Appearance - very clear, golden; nice 1 finger heads holds up pretty well

Smell - clean, pale grains

Taste - grainy, very nice; medium-dry and moderately bitter, lingering just a little

Mouthfeel - crisp, but not too prickly; light and refreshing, but not thin

Overall - better than average lager, would buy again if it weren't so pricey

The white head starts off looking a little flimsy, but pulls itself together to form a 1/2 finger pillow that's pretty creamy and shows itself to be a little more substantial in lasting power if nothing else. It's not terribly substantial, but a thin island of foam lasts the session and does drop some decent spotting.
The smell has a mix of light fruity sweetness, lemon, crackers and grass with some fresh herb (almost like sage or thyme) coming out stronger as it warms.
Where the aroma began to remind me of a Sauv Blanc (wine), sort of earthier, mineral (shale), and herbal, the flavor does even more. The lemon continues to come through along with grass.
The feel is clean, semi-dry as some more vinous character is drawn out, almost dry into the finish, in a light body that's right for the style without going too weak. It's crisp up front, which falls off a little in favor of a smoother end.

Bottle into Grolsch pint glass in low altitude Cork, Ireland.

A: One finger head of slight cream, bad thickness, and poor retention. Clear yellow colour.

Sm: Barley, hints of cream, pale hops. Standard lager smell.

T: Creamed barley body with hoppy climax. Nothing special. The cream and hops are a nice effect, adding complexity but not enough. Balanced well, built average for the style.

Mf: Silky smooth and nicely wet. The best part of this beer. Complements the refreshing cream aspect of the flavour. Unfortunately they don't completely match, but it's a favourable juxtaposition.

Dr: Pretty affordable by Irish standards, but not a fantastic beer by any means. It's a refreshing beer for good weather.

Light yellow in color with an average white head. This brew has a moderate malt aroma. Husky barley and grass, mixed with a herbal hop scent...but very faint. The taste is semi-sweet, with a nice bitterness at the finish. Smooth and very clean. The beer is relatively low in carbonation. At times, the mouthfeel seems a little chalky. Otherwise, the mouthfeel is quite empty and watery. Still, not a bad beer at all. The problem is that the flavors are all very muted and subdued. For this reason, it's more or less average. It has some potential, though.

For the style, this is a solid beer. Lots of flavor.

Like most people, sunny days make me happy. And nothing makes me happier on sunny days than bright, sunny-golden beers. Theresanier certainly fits the bill on this balmy June afternoon, its clarity and resplendence welcomed relief for my thirsty tastebuds.

Light-coloured lager is among the most difficult style to brew; not only is the process more technical than people realize, but recipes so clean and concentrated leave little room to hide brewing errors. Want to know the trick? Use the best possible quality grain and just let it do its thing. Works here.

The beer is filtered but it doesn't taste it. Malted barley figures prominently into each and every sip, parting flavours of gently toasted and very lightly honeyed cereal grain. Hops aren't appreciated in the same way but provide a service nonetheless, ensuring no sweetness survives to the aftertaste.

Italy's young, creative, and enthusiastic microbreweries are reinventing the country's perceptions of beer and slowly narrowing the gap with wine for beverage of choice. But the industry will need a good lager capable of reaching the masses if they wish to succeed. I nominate Theresianer.

Imagine what it would do for Italy's reputation internationally if people associated it with Theresianer and not Nastro Azzurro or Birra Moretti. It's like comparing a Serie A team to a Serie C team. Theresianer not only has a German sounding name but also Bundesliga-level quality and drinkability.

330ml served in a pint glass.

A: Pours a pale yellow clear color forming a medium to low thin bubbled white head. Medium to low retention. Only few spotty lacings left in the glass. A thin bubbled white head remains for long on the top

S: Quite malty and crispy. Sweet malts. Not bad at all. Very bready Lager-style yeasts. Very light hops bitterness. Classic Euro Lager. Not bad at all

T: Slightly sweet upfront. Very malty, bready and crispy. Quite honest Euro Lager. Mild hops bitterness

M: Light body. Good carbonation and a bready and malty aftertaste

O: Good drinkability. Not bad

Clear golden colour with a small, smooth white head. Decent head retention.

Smooth and nutty pale malt with a distinct caramel note. Mildly fruity and creamy.

Creamy malt with a strange chocolate note. More caramel and lots of rounded malt. Strangely sweet but pleasant.

Medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite thick for a lager but I find this one pleasant.

It was interesting to see the reviews for this after I reviewed it while out. I really quite liked this and think that it is a unique and creative take on a normally dull style.
