Chock full of highly roasted barley malt and 150 lbs. of flaked oatmeal, the Warlock is a dark and satisfying winter elixir. Smooth, rich and exceptionally comforting. An annually-awaited winter seasonal.

Nearly black with ample tan foam. Smells like oatmeal malts. Taste is malty, a tad of alcohol sweetness, oat, coffee and synthetic vanilla.

For a “basic” oatmeal stout I think they did a fine job. Keeping it at 6% and packing all that malty goodness in is fairly impressive to me.
The aroma is good, the look is good, the taste better than expected and the feel appropriate for the ABV and the oatmeal.
If this were available in Michigan I would gladly pick up a 6 pack every year.

Dark brown body with a pearl ring. Smells so much better than it tastes. Smell has oatmeal, chocolate, light roast coffee, barley, and malts o plenty. Taste however has meaty smoke to it and metal in the finish, both distract and detract. Oat, chocolate, and heavier handed coffee help but are not enough to save it. Feel is sneaky robust, smoky, and malty.

LOOK: Dark brown - nearly black. Not much head upon pouring - 1 finger - quickly recedes to barely a foam ring.
SMELL: Charred grains and wood. Some coffee, dark fruit/prune, some caramel and malt
TASTE: Decent hop bitterness blasts in. Then you are hit with a super dry chocolate and coffee (deep dark roast). Slight woodsiness and some funk/earthiness. Very flavorful. Trails off with some smokiness and coffee
FEEL: Fairly full bodied but not as much as I expected especially with being an oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel should be a bit more full and creamy.
OVERALL: I have had this one a few times and maybe my tastes have changed... a couple of years ago I may have given this a 4.25-4.5 across the board. Seems to be a bit thinner than it used to be.

12 oz. Bottle
Month Bottled: Oct 4 week 2016
Pours a pretty nice dark brown color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small creamy light tan head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, roasty, with some chocolate/toffee, nutty, with some slight vanilla. The taste is malty, roasty, chocolate/toffee, nutty, vanilla. Medium body. Overall, a tasty brew.
