Pours a cloudy dirty orange color with a smallish tight creamy head.

The aroma is of citrus and tropical fruit notes. Big orange and pineapple. Perhaps some ripe mango.

The taste is of tropical fruits, mango mostly and pineapple. There is a bit of a minty hop as well. The malt is neutral and bready.

The feel is well bodied with soft carbonation. Sweet on the palate. Surprisingly little bitterness. A bit of an ABV burn.

A sweet DIPA but not cloying.

This beer feels to me like an attempted Julius clone, albeit with a little more alcohol (it's a DIPA). But they didn't get the same level of refinement that Treehouse has. The look and smell is very reminiscent of Julius. It's got the thickness, the floating yeast particles or whatever that stuff is, smells like orange soda . . . yeah, all that. But it's taste is peppery, too much bite for what it's trying to be. And the aftertaste is a separate experience from the beer. It's not a bad aftertaste, it's just not part of the rest of the beer, if that makes any sense. So overall this feels like a beer that tries a bit too hard and it doesn't quite gel together. It's not bad but it's just not at all representative of the top of its style. Think: a rough, rugged attempt at cloning a top NEIPA.

This beer is a failure, IMHO, right off the bat based on the way that its name is emblazoned on the CAN! If it is all one word & it CANnot be printed as such due to font or font size, then a hyphen (-) is required between the break in syllables. To me, this reads as: Trail Blazer New England Style India Pale Ale". A poorly done entry for The CANQuest (tm)!

From the CAN: "Explore. Discover. Taste. Celebrate, Trailblazer. Enjoy."; "Celebrating American Trailblazers"; "Trailblazer is one of our most enticing craft beers that will Rev Up [sic] your palate with an Explosion [sic] of fresh 'unfiltered' hops that has an irresistibly intense flavor. At the Connecticut Valley Brewing Company we celebrate the trailblazing spirit that lies within us all. Pope not only formed the League of American Wheelmen to improve roads, he also produced one of the first motorcycles and electric automobiles. By 1900, Col. Pope's (Hartford, CT) factory produced more motor vehicles than any other factory in the world. Choose your own path and Celebrate your Trailblazing spirit by enjoying the great taste of Trailblazer and know that a portion of the sale of this beer goes to Charity bike riders across CT. You can go another step further and give back to the planet by recycling this can,"; "Brewed with only the Finest American Ingredients. Grown & Harvested by American Farmers. A True American Beer."

I Crack!ed open this 473-ml CANtainer of disappointment & CANmenced a heavy-handed Glug into the awaiting glass. It mustered up just over two fingers of fizzy, foamy, tawny head with extremely limited retention that quickly fell away to wisps, leaving only a modicum of lacing behind. Color was a soupy, cloudy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) that should have been an embarrassment to its brewer. Nose smelled strongly of grapefruit pith, but not much else. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was kind of muted, barely perceptible in terms of its bitterness. It had a light grapefruit flavor, but not much else. It was a totally one-dimensional creation, probably thought up on a whim to satisfy the latest craze, but really having nothing to do with the AIPA style. Finish was semi-dry to dry, but overall, dissatisfying. YMMV.

Poured from a 16oz can into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a hazy orange with a frothy white head.

Aroma is an herbal tangerine.

Taste is juicy and fresh.

Delicious.

Pours a hazy, murky orange color under an off-white foam head... Aromas and flavors are predictably citric, as advertised, with orange at the fore... Sometimes too orange a brew is a detractor for me, but I found this beer very enjoyable... Canned 5/22/18, it presents a moderately bitter and only mildly sweet taste profile, with a dank undertone that supports the solid malt body... Impressions of mango and cantaloupe are accompanied by something of a pine-like shellac... Medium-full-bodied, smooth, and soft... Good stuff...
