Notes / Commercial Description:
Big, bold, but surprisingly smooth, Devil’s Hopyard Imperial NEIPA is bursting with a complex blend of tropical fruit aroma. This 8.6% brew is double dry-hopped with copious amounts of El Dorado, Mosaic, and Citra hops to impart bright tropical flavors with undertones of stone fruit and a hint of watermelon. The devil’s in the details, or in this case, the hopyard.

A: Deep bright orange coloring with a dirty white head is clumpy and bready textured with an average rate of stay. Nice strong solid band lacing, one inch wide. Really nice bright coloring.

S: Wet citrus and tropical notes, semi-dry pineapple and peaches. A bit of fresh lemonade scent of medium strength. Freshly squeezed orange juice finishes.

T: Flowery citrus bite on the opening flavor, accompanied by some oranges and peaches of tropical nature. Soft fresh orange peel finishes with a back end bitterness of tart oranges.

M: Good feel of carbonation, medium body weight on the tongue, orange juice/lactose like consistency with a good fullness. Medium syrupy.

O: Claims to be double dry hopped, but again seems more flavor forward and wet, whirlpool like flavor. Small instance of semi-dry citrus, but again a wet flavor, dank tropical and a tangy like orange juice bite. Juicy and tropical, with a good drinkability.

16oz can. Pours a slightly hazy, murky brownish yellow with an inch of frothy head. Lots of lacing. Sweet aroma of citrus and tropical fruits. Mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerine and melon. Maybe a hint of dank hops as well. The taste is more floral hops than expected. Grapefruit, lemon and some berries. Dank and herbal hop finish. Lightly carbonated with a dry mouthfeel. Tastes pretty boozey. Reminds me a bit of Two Juicy. Overall, pretty good beer I’d buy again.
