On tap at Bar Volo. Above average mouthfeel. Nicely executed. Displays some hops in the finish, above average carbonation. Though a but too much clove or licorice spice in the finish. Nicely executed and not something everyone executes and hardly anyone in a long long memory. Decent drinkability.

14 oz pour into a Black Oak glass on tap at Bier Markt Mississauga.

Appearance - dark ruby and brown coloured beer with minimal clarity. A nice little half finger or so of tan head rests on top and leaves some sparse lacing.

Smell - not huge aromas, but cherry and plum is one set of fruits that appears with a boozy dark chocolate aroma filling in the gaps.

Taste - like the nose, but overall fairly bitter, the fruity flavours show nicely, if subtlety and the dark chocolate is mentioned but not quite prominent. Fairly complex, but the stars just don't quite pop for that second or two that the best in the style seem to achieve.

Mouthfeel - on the heavier side, carbonation is lively, and the beer finishes a little drier than average.

Overall - nice pairing with sliders and well crafted overall, certainly nothing to complain about. With a little more flavor explosion here and there and the nosiness turn down half a notch I can see this becoming a huge favourite in Ontario. Hoping they can revive this in full and make this something available more often than once in a blue moon.
