330 ml bottle, B and M stores, Bristol - Pours clear copper with medium white foamy head. Medium carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma - very light citrus notes. Taste - light citrus feel, crisp light bitter finish, metallic feel as well. Should have a lot stronger hop feel for the hops stated. Disappointing for hop heads.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2013. Picked up from Booths. The label mentions that it is hopped with Cascade at all the brewing stages, hence the name.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear golden hue with plentiful carbonation. Forms a large head of fluffy white foam that lasts for a while before reducing to a surface layer. Aroma of light grainy malt with notes of stewed hops, mild diacetyl and faint citrus. Uninspired.

Tastes of grainy malt with a mild bitter finish. Notes of stewed hops, mild caramel, fruity ale yeast and faint hints of citrus. A subtle whiff of diacetyl in the background. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and prickly. Quite astringent. Aftertaste of bitter stewed hops.

A rather pedestrian effort. Just because a brewer has discovered US hop varieties doesn't mean their beers will automatically become amazing. This has to be one of the dullest uses of Cascade that I've encountered - the weak aroma and flavour leave me cold. The diacetyl is also undesirable. Another 'blonde' ale intended for summer drinking but lacking in character or depth. Don't go chasing after it.

330ml bottle, 5.3% ABV, from something called the Crafty Dan Micro Brewery, an apparent sub-brand of Daniel Thwaites. The Triple C in the name is a subset of the 'Big C' hops of Pacific NW renown.

This beer pours a mostly clear, medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, frothy, and rocky eggshell white head, which leaves some splendid tightly webbed lace around the glass as it slowly abates.

It smells of sharply bitter orange, lemon, and grapefruit rind, pine resin, grainy, crackery pale malt, and further floral, slightly perfumed hop notes. The taste is rather acrid, and muddled citrus pith - hard to pick out a specific fruit's, um, 'essence' here - biscuity, somewhat doughy pale malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, a particular lemon herbal character, and more piney, leafy, and floral hops.

The carbonation is quite sprightly, and peppy in its tight frothiness, the body a pleasant enough medium weight, and generally smooth, those heady hops knowing what's good for them around here. It finishes still quite dry, the hops and biscuity malt colluding to the last drop.

Well, there certainly is an English pale ale underneath all that Yankee hop furor, and a good one at that, as its merits come bleeding through the big C triad of titular lore. When does an EPA cross the threshold into American (I)PA territory? Right about here.

500ml Bottle: I really should read the rear labels before buying sometimes. I am no fan of cascade hops and this is riddled with them.

Poured into a UK pint sleeve the beer looked fine: golden, clear and clean. The head a white foam blanket that stayed the distance.

Those bloody cascade hops and their grapefruit notes fill the aroma and taste of this refreshing beer, just too citrusy for me from start to finish.

I tried to enjoy it and almost did. Scored objectively (honest).

A- pale, yellow in colour no head but consistent lacing.
S- nice citrus hop aroma.
T- a hybrid lager/pale ale, light and clean but with a nice bitter backbone.
M- thin, very refreshing but not in keeping with style.

This is a beer in the same mould as fullers discovery, which is one of my favorite beers. It is reminiscent of a lager but with more hop and malt character. Really refreshing and I will look out for this on tap.

Bottled and based on the 500ml Thwaites ale not the clearly different 330ml Crafty dan beer
here is a thin beer that pasteurisation has stripped away the hop flavours and can barely present iself in the glass
painfully dull

A: Golden straw. Pretty white head. Very fizzy looking. Glass lined with tiny bubbles - bit odd. Fantastic lacing.

S: Cascade hops.

T: Very dry. Earthy cascade hops flavour and bitterness. Light but creamy. Touch of ginger.

O: A few British breweries seem to be making beers that showcase particular hops and this is one of them. There's nothing to complement the cascade flavour but it's very refreshing non the less. A good one to introduce to lager drinking friends who are anti-ale. I like it. I think it achieves what it sets out to do.
