I always like to hit up the local TJ's when I visit a new area...good spot to pick up some healthier snacks and food for life on the road...this spot did not disappoint from the typical food angle, liquor options being available were a bonus, but the beer availability was a bit less than what I've seen in numerous other TJ's in other states and parts of the country...You can and will find some decent beer here, for me cans of Surly were the highlight. Worth a visit.

Typical Trader Joe's market for the most part, but I found the selection a bit better than at some others. They offer the usual complement of good quality items that you might not see anywhere else. The wine and spirits selection was quite good, as was the craft beer selection. Nice atmosphere, lively vibe, helpful staff. Worth a stop if you're in the area, if only for the store-brand bourbon.

Visited this TJ's today on a mini-tour of the area. Pretty similar layout to the one I go to in Chicago. Beer & Wine are on the far end past the registers.

Selection is what you would expect if you've been to a TJ's before. Honestly I doubt the selection has changed since the first review in 2004. Mainly the basic staples and contract lines from "JosephsBrau" including Stockyard Oatmeal Stout, Goose Island, Two Bros., Bells, Old Rasputin (no Old Stock), 8 Ball, Vintage Ale 2010, and a handful of good imports like Duvel, Hitachino, and Chouffe. Not extensive at all, don't expect much in the way of seasonals. For the budget conscious there's Simpler Times Lager, and Name Tag Lager.

Checkout was quick and with a smile. Peterson's next door had a more extensive selection, if you have time to hit both places, do so.

this is primarily a grocery store, and as for drinks, the focus is more on wine than beer. however, unlike most chain groceries the vast majority of the beer selection is craft brews, primarily domestic micros. not much here that you couldn't get at a decent-sized liquor store. the selection is decent but relatively small. there is a better selection of midwestern craft brews next door at the wine shop. they do allow a mix and match sixer, which is nice. employees are helpful if lacking in beer knowledge, not that i bothered to ask anything. sometimes you just know. great prices on goat cheese, though, and some kickass french bread to go with your beer.

Well, I really hate to give Trader Joe's a low score, becuase I love their food and everyone that works there is super nice. However, their current beer selection leaves quite a bit to be desired. They basically have a small wall of brew consisting of Sierra Nevada, Goose Island, some Bell's, some North Coast and a small variety of others. Luckily, the few beers they do choose to stock are normally pretty good, however I have had a few that were not great.

One bonus is that they always have a large selection of single bottles. When I've been shopping there I always seem to grab 3 or 4 singles, especially if they have new things I haven't tried.

Overall, Trader Joe's is a very kick ass and unique GROCERY store, but they are lacking in the beer department. I'd say check it out if you intend to shop for some food there...but don't bother if you are only after brew.

P.S. They also stock the Stockyard Oatmeal Stout there, which is quite cheap, and a friendly Trader Joe's associate told me it is brewed by Goose Island exclusively for TJ's.
