you can tell this is a fruit beer by sight. it's a very natural red in color. just like raspberry juice. the nose is full of the berry aroma, but the taste isn't extremely sweet. too often these fruit beers are super sweet, but i find this one to be very enjoyable. maybe it's the oak aging that mellows the sweetness slightly.

Here's an unusual beer. 500lbs of raspberries were used to produce this fruit lambic-like beer. Has a murky light strawberry colour to it with a thin pink lace -- like a wine cooler. Clean nose, soft-raspberry aroma and a touch of fruity candy. Strong wheat flavour, crisp, tart and puckering with huge raspberry flavours and a limey / salty citrus bite.
A bit one-dimensional (a fruit overload on the senses), but extremely interesting. Kudos to the brewer for making something so outrageous.

Had at Vermont Pub & Brewery into a snifter glass, comes out a dark ruby color, clear, with a fizzy head that drops out completely.
Sweet fruit upfront in the aroma, backnote of some grains. Flavorwise is dominated by the raspberry flavor, some tart notes combine with the sweetness, you can detect some graininess every now and then, but it's pretty much raspberry on display.
Still a light body, finishes wet and lingering in the mouth. Very tasty for a fruit beer!

Vermont Pub- Forbidden Fruit
Appearance- Reddish orange with no head.
Smell- Candy raspberries.
Taste- Light malt with a nice touch of raspberries and powdered sugar. Raspberries aren't overpowering which makes this a nice sipping beer.
Mouthfeel- candy sweet at first but settling into a nice mild sipper.
Overall- Much better than I was expecting. Couldn't drink more than 1 or 2 but definitely worth a pint!

Pours a cloudy orange red with a smallish head. The smell has a rasberry scent to it,but it's not as strong as I thought it would be. The taste, however, is all rasberry. The fruit totally dominates the flavor of this beer. The m/f is light and well balanced. This is like a rasberry soda, but it is pretty refreshing and I'm not a fan of fruit beer.

On tap at the brewpub. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy dark amber, almost pink color. Nice frothy white head. Slow dissipation. The smell had some tart cherries, semi-sweet yet sour. Underscore of citrus. Sweet to sour grapes. The taste was mainly the same bringing together the tart and the sweet and the sour. Citrus to sour cherry aftertaste. Semi-smooth wet sour cherry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Sour harshness hits my tongue just right. Overall, fruit beer or sour beer, doesn’t really matter too much to me as I’d say this was very good and I’m sure to come back to.

Appears a glowing nuclear red with a liggle bit of carbonation and a small white head that fades.
Smell is of tart raspberries that pretty much drown out any other aroma within the glass's vicinity.
Taste is of huge raspberries with a decently rounded tartness.
Mouthfeel is tart towards the sides of the tongue with a low amount of carbonation.
Drinkability is ok. One and done for me.

On tap directly at the brewpub into a mug.
Pours a raspberry-like red body, slight tart aroma that is quite pleasant. A nice acidic raspberry flavor with a relative clean finish. I`d call this a middle of the road ale. Not intense but authentic nonetheless.

Tap at the brew pub.
Light fizzy head, bright raspberry hazy beer.
Nose sweet raspberry candy and ice cream, some fresh raspberry, hint of soured malts.
Taste light fruit, no real tart or sour, raspberry fruit, almost creamy and mostly dry, acidic and a weird bitterness, tannic like berry stem and light juicy fruit. Light bready malts. Finishes dry, very dry, flemmy and raspberry fruit but more syrup extract than fresh.
Mouth is lighter bodied, a bit thin and watery, decent carb, flemmy and sticky.
Overall not very good, not sour or tart at all!!! just a sweet fruity beer, not quite a mess but just not good.

64oz growler from the brewery, filled 5-31-10 and sampled june 5/2010.
pours hazy dark pink, not quite red, with a small dense light pink head. the head drops fast and leaves only a few spots of lace.
aroma is nice. raspberry and fruity ale character. whole wheat bread and biscuit. touch of cracker. light alcohol. touch of herbal and light floral character.
taste is nice. lightly tart raspberry. white bread and biscuit. touch of cracker. bit of nutty character from the raspberry seeds. hint of alcohol. light herbal character.
mouthfeel is good. nice light body with a good dry finish. light carbonation level, which seems a bit lower than it was when sampled on tap. i think i liked it with the carbonation it had on tap.
drinkability is good. nicely balanced, hiding almost all its alcohol. not overly tart or acidic either. great raspberry presence that still leaves a nice beery presence beneath.

First had: on tap at their brewpub
While labeled as a framboise, I don't think this is an actual lambic, but more of a general fruit/raspberry beer. Poured slightly hazy with a pinkish/purplish hue, and a foamy head of delicate white-pink bubbles. Clean aroma, smelling of light grains and berry candy. Tart and bitter taste, lots of raspberries of course, dry and somewhat metallic. Light bodied and kind of watery. Didn't really care for this one, but I give it points overall since a beer like this is a bit atypical for a small outfit like VTP&B.
