I had this one on tap at the brew pub during the VT Brew Fest weekend. This beer poured a light tanish orange with a slight haze. Clean white head that left a hefty layer of lace. Decent head retention for this brew leaving a strong layer that lasted until the end of the pint. Good carbonation with a medium body. The smell is of slight hop citrus mixed with a sweetness of malt and then the aroma of rye in the back of the nose. After the initial smell the rye certainly stands out in the nose. I enjoy the mild sharpness of the rye scent. It really adds to the aroma of the beer. Nice bouquet of scents that create an interesting and very enjoyable mix. Smooth flavor with great drink ability. The flavor of pale malt sweetness mixed with the sharper rye contrast makes for a wonderful mix of flavor. Slight alcohol taste is present in the background. Finish is of mild hop bitterness but mostly the flavor of the rye comes through. Well crafted lager that I wish I could enjoy more often. I have one growler left from the case I brought home. It also tasted as good as it did on tap.

This beer pours a reddish-blond color with a head that fades after a while. Aroma is strong with malt and rye dominating. Taste is much of the same with the malt shining backed up by a rye afterbite that dominates the mouthfeel. Nice and spicy, somewhat chewy. A different kind of lager for sure and like no other lager I've had locally. Rye beers are still uncommon from breweries/brewpubs in Vermont. This one shines through though.
