Hazy pale blond in color with a thick pillowy white head on top that sticks around for a while. The aroma is dry and a bit citrusy with light bready malts, almost like a wheat beer. Clean and simple with a Belgian influence. Pleasant.

Citrusy and a bit acidic, both in pleasant and refreshing ways. Very bright flavors, like a banana straight of the tree and not quite ready to eat yet. Works really well here though. Slight notes of clove with a peppery touch in the middle. Underneath it all is a clean malt that acts as a very nice backdrop for the beer. The carbonation manages to be both lively, aided by the bright flavors, and soft, finishing long and dry. Very pleasant and easy drinker with complexities as well. Would go great with light dishes or even some slightly spicy ones.

Complex and tasty, bright and refreshing. Definitely a well crafted example of the style and worth the buy for sure. Would like to have a few of these on standby for those hot summer days.

Review from 12/2010 notes. Poured into a Nostradamus flute glass. Pours a pale golden amber. Light head leaves a ring around the glass, slight lacing. Aroma of wheat, light malt, yeast and Belgian spicing. Sweet wheat flavor, almost reminiscent of a heffeweizen, light malt and Belgian spice. Finish is sweet wheat and then an increasing bitterness. Pleasant, but not quite as good as the best Belgian pale ales. An interesting ale that I will revisit.

12.68oz bottle into tulip.

A - Pours a brilliant clean golden with a large, tightly packed white head.

S - Light bready sweetness, Belgian yeast, mild lemon zest and herbal grassy notes.

T - Taste follows the nose with a delicate bready sweetness throughout. Elements of lemon citrus, tangy Belgian yeast, and herbal spice all add to this beers complexity. Finish has a light earthy hop bitterness and breadiness.

M - Silky, light-medium body, prickly carbonation. Semi dry.

O - A great Belgian style offering from Russian River. Highly drinkable and seems like it would pair well with meat & seafood.

Poured from a bottle; no best before date, but it is noted as Batch 012 and we're told to age it in the dark! Unfortunately I'm drinking this one!

A - nearly clear yellow golden ale that pours a thick, one finger head with practically solid lacing. Lots of tiny bubble rising to the surface.

S - very slightly astringent and yeasty nose. Some slight hints of ripe fruit.

T - no better way to describe this than as a super-balanced beer. Tight and restrained hops bitterness rides a biscuity malt backbone and finishes with a slight bitterness at the back of the through. Nothing truly dominates but the flavors are well interwoven. Finishes extra dry.

M - very light body held up by a creamy carbonation. Very thirst-quenching. Would be a fabulous warm weather beer.

Very nice Belgian Pale; super balanced and extremely easy drinking. Would make an amazing session beer, even at 5.5% ABV.

First beer out of 6 that I ordered from LetsPour. I've loved every Russian River I've had previously. Poured into a Maudite tulip glass.

Batch 012

Appearance - Gotta say I love uncaging and uncorking every R.R brew. A sharp looking beer that throbs and shakes with life. A porous, yeasty head that is sudsy in texture. Slick and brief lacing to the tulip glass. The brew is a scrumptious-looking sunshine yellow. Opaque with a mysterious look to it all. Generously carbonated and lively. This beer really couldn't look any more delicious.

Smell - Citrus and lemon peel right off the bat. Faint bubblegum. Belgian yeast is very apparent. A bready yeast smell outshines any other notes of fruit that I may be missing. A bit flat.

Taste - A very interesting Belgian brew. Russian River tones down the sourness a bit with this beer, and lets the carbonated flavors of club soda, Belgian yeast, and lemon do the talking. There is a faint flowery hint of hops in the aftertaste, as well as a timid spice at the end of the scope.

Mouthfeel and Drinkability - All in all, the beer is very smooth and enjoyable. The expected sourness is still present, though it is toned down just a bit to let the Belgian properties shine. Perfect for a summer night. The beers complexity, however, leaves a bit to be desired.

Not average Belgian Ale. I am spoiled though, I just got done living in Europe for the last few years, so I had regular access to Belgians beers and other European greats! Anyway, this is my least liked caged and corked beer (this and damnation) by Russian River. Straw/pale yellow beer, good carbonation. Very average on taste, a nice hoopy bitter flavor, but not much else in the way of flavor. Not a lot of depth. Overall a very average beer....

Cloudy pale gold colored brew with a big fluffy white head of exceptional creaminess and retention. Lacing is also exceptionally fine and creamy looking. Yeasty aroma is lightly spicy with cloves and pepper; some citrus and a mild mineral note.

Very tasty, combining restrained lemon and citrus pith bitterness with the spicy Belgian yeast notes; resembles an elegant witbier to some extent in its clove spiciness and citrus peel qualities. Its both subtler and more complex than that however; the spices aren't too in your face, and sit rather harmoniously in combination with the hops and a muted but underlying mustiness and very light funk.

Moderately light bodied with medium carbonation; manages to feel both smooth and crisp at the same time. Easy drinking and refreshing, with a lot of flavor for a lowish alcohol beer.
