Batch 003. Pours into my glass a hazy brown hue with notes of orange and red intermixed. A half inch of light eggshell bubbles creates the head. Steady active carbonation. Aromas of caramel, roast and some bread come through first. Fruity and spicy with a nice Belgian yeast underpinning. Mild toffee. Rather smooth and refined.
First sip brings a toasty, caramel tinged malt upfront that flows into a wealth of fruity spiciness. It flows down with a touch of toffee and mild hops as well. Finishes with tones of Belgian yeast. A solidly refined, earthy, spicy Biere De Sonoma.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter, more refreshing side with lots of fast moving carbonation that rushes across the palate with each sip. A pretty refreshing brew, the only complaint I have is the carbonation gets to be a bit much for me. Overall, another solid, tasty brew from Russian River. I hope to be able to sample this again someday!

At the brewery in Santa Rosa. Had hope for this as I haven’t had a beer of this style for many years. But it was a bit plain and subdued, like a watered down Saison.

I loved this beer! It was a great example of balance and restraint in a beer. Not too hoppy, very smooth and session-able. The yeast is front and center and it’s great. Clear as a bell , see through and on the medium brown color spectrum. 6.25 ABV

July 27th, 2015 - Four more beers left in the orchestra of beer samplers left, and this one is the perdition. Dark and brown but with a solid clarity it looks like a brown ale, and smells of cherry notes, both tangy and tart. But the flavor has a touch of cough medicine on a flat body. Acidic and low and simple, it's not today's star.
