Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 10.25%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Pliny the Younger, the man, was Pliny the Elder’s nephew and adopted son. They lived nearly 2,000 years ago! Pliny the Elder is our Double IPA, so we felt it was fitting to name our Triple IPA after his son. It is almost a true Triple IPA with triple the amount of hops as a regular I.P.A. That said, it is extremely difficult, time and space consuming, and very expensive to make. And that is why we don’t make it more often! This beer is very full-bodied with tons of hop character in the nose and throughout. It is also deceptively well-balanced and smooth.

So you fly in from Australia, you wait for 3 hours in a line and you wonder ... is it just hype? No!!! It exceeds all expectations- the only question that needs to be asked ... when can I get back!! Truly privileged to have experienced the younger and the elder! My first 5 on BA to the younger!!

2018 version at the brewery. Very smooth for the abv. Drinks like a lower abv beer but packs a lot of flavor. Piney, grapefruit, floral. Very tasty. Wish this was year round!

Well made and delicious. A lot of alcohol, so really packs a punch. Totally worth waiting in line, but probably not worth traveling across the country for.

Waited in line at the brew pub for this and the experience was definitely worth it. While I would take younger over any other triple I have had to date, I wouldn’t say that I preferred it to Blind Pig or Elder for that matter.

The pour was perfect, it looked like a beer to be excited about, just the right amount of head. It definitely left a good lacing on the glass.

I was surprised at how crisp it was for a triple IPA, others I have had are always very thick and heavy. This was not the case with Younger. The appearance was very clear, a golden color with zero haze.

It definitely packs a punch at 10.25% ABV, but when paired with “Pliny bites” at the brew pub, it was perfect.

A truly outstanding beer with a really fun experience in order to get a taste. While I enjoyed the beer and will go back again, it will be for the fun I had in line more so than for the beer I drank.

This is a huge triple, and there's no hiding it either. It has a big hop bite, nice bitterness, piney, a decent amount of ethanol; creamy, boozy finish that lasts and lasts.
