Had on tap at the Russian River brewpub. Pilsner-colored, clear blond ale. Neutral aroma, I had a tough time picking out anything. Maybe a subtle interpretation of a subtle style...

The flavor was more malty than hoppy, again faint. Easy to drink and could be sessionable, but mostly forgettable to me compared to the other beers from Russian River. Interestingly there was no sour component despite a lack of hops to cover up said flavor. So I guess they have good control over their Brett.

From my notes on recent trip, this beer pours a light golden color with no head as delivered, but spotty lacing here and there. Aroma is of citrussy, lemons and a slight malt floating around there too. Pretty decent. Taste is quite nice, an easily drinkable creamy smooth malt and lemon cirtus thats fresh and refreshing. At 4.5%, I'd drink this all night long.

Presentation: Recently sampled at the Russian River Brewing Company during a visit over the New Years Eve weekend.

Aud Blonde may be the lightest colored beer we have ever brewed at Russian River Brewing Company, but don't be fooled into thinking that this beer is light in flavor. It has a refined characteristic, which can be contributed to us blending pilsner malt with a unique hop called crystal. The distinctive characteristic of the crystal hop lends a citrus, almost eucalyptus quality in the aroma and mouth feel of the brew, while leaving the beer with a long dry finish.

Appearance: Pale golden body, a little straw like. Soft white head dispersed quickly and breaks to leave one of those patchy heads. Medium carbonation.

Nose: Soft grain with a sharp refreshing lemon swathe. Feels as crisp as stepping on fresh fallen snow.

Taste: So drinkable that at times it is easy to forget about the tastes. A light bodied but firm tasting Blonde that benefits from a restrained but tangible zingy lemon citric splash and a fruity feel in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Clean, crisp, unfettered and approachable. A soft and creamy texture befits the featherweight body, which punches a few weights higher.

Drinkability: A dependable brew. Stands alone with no problem, but also washes down the RR Pizza and Beer Bites without ever interfering. Another RRBC Session brew.

Overall: I realized that it was an American Blonde Ale, and I didn’t expect a lot (even here!), but I wanted to try it nonetheless. It turns out that this was very good, yet it turned out to be the least favored “return to” of the RRBC beers that I sampled over my weekend visit, simply put, there is just too much competition. Still, this is a solid 3.95 though, almost a 4.0, says a lot that.
