A gorgeous reddish brown beer with a quickly fading head. No lacing but a constant patch of bubbles float on the surface above the nucleation site. The aroma is a medley of oak, red wine, vanilla, tart cherries and a hint of chocolate. The taste is woody, sweet, and vinous. There are also cherries, vanilla and chocolate in the taste. This is just outstanding.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark amber color with a quickly dissipating thin fizzy white head. No lacing. The aroma starts off with a thin white grape/vinous overlay to some dark fruits, currants. Sly amount of dark chocolate. The flavor yields to the tartness first. And then sharpens against a nice vinous quality coming from a dry woody edge. Dark chocolate seems a bit more scaled back. Quick vinous sweet to dry dark fruity aftertaste. No finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with an appropriate carbonation to it, medium strength without letting acidity to get too tough on the feel. Overall, nicely done American Wild ale using wine barrel to be the sour. Thanks Paul.

Dark amber color, vigorous carbonation & head that relaxes into the whisper of a lacing. Aroma is fantastic - lush upfront with those cab sav smells (rich dark grape) with the currants adding a nice sweetness underneath with just a hint of tart yeast for contrast. Taste starts put the opposite, very heavy on the currant flavor until the that husky oak / cab sav comes in on the mid-palate with some grape tanin & vintages barrel flavors. The lacto tartness is there but is used so well to contrast & highlight the deeper flavors that you barely notice. Finishes like dry wine with a lingering sting of tartness. Fantastic.

Pours dark rich amber brown with quickly dissipating head.
The aroma is red wine, woodiness from the barrel, vinegar, dark berries and some cherry juice.
The flavor follows the nose, it's super juicy. Tons of berry and red wine flavors. It's nice and tart with a slight funkiness. It's delicious.
I would seek this out, it's a very good sour, and I'm normally not a fan of high abv sours.

First had poured from 12.7-oz., corked and caged bottle, label stamped bottled on "071816," gift from friend, into tulip. So that's what currants taste like?
