Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.75%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale started out as six individual brews, each with their own personality, and all incorporating Brettanomyces and or micro-organisms. Once the barrel aging was complete, Russian River’s Vinnie Cilurzo and Toronado’s David Keene got together to create the final blend. To create its fine carbonation, we re fermented the Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale in this bottle. Spent yeast cells from a thin layer of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Pour slowly, allowing the natural yeast sediment to remain in the bottle.

Blend:
4% Sonambic (barrel aged for 15 months)
16% Blonde Ale (barrel aged for 8 months)
36% Strong Pale Ale (barrel aged 12 months)
28% Ale Aged with Currants (barrel aged for 8 months)
12% Strong Dark Ale (barrel aged for 12 months)
4% Baltic Porter (barrel aged for 10 months)

pretty cool of my homie to share this one with us, acting like its nothing special. yeah right dude, this is white whale stuff, especially in this day and age. only now learning of the blend here, which makes a lot of sense. i kind of just thought it was a black currant wild ale, didnt know there were all these other barrel aged beers in it. its weird now thinking back that 4% of baltic porter seems to have influenced this a fair bit, as i was getting some roasty elements coming through an otherwise pale beer, and the fruit seemed really light, so if the blend ratio listed here is correct, than that accounts for that as well. pink to purple hued, very hazy, with a prickly white head that tickles my nose as i get in there to smell it. fruit is pretty far back, and i was wondering if that was a product of age, but now i suspect just the blend. smells more like raspberries than currants i think, but has that distinct jammy thing going on. sourness is both intense and complex, which is very russian river. the lacto is there, throwing acid and funk to it, but its also got a lot more going on, timeless maturity, this has evolved and dried out to the max degree. i wonder if it has changed much, it must have right? carbonation is through the roof, and the finish is instant, although the fruit comes back in the end and the wood profile starts to taste more like wine than anything else. wonderful wild ale, i think maybe not as epic as consecration, which may be the blended in beer. i love the complexity though, and you can literally taste the rarity here (isnt that what the whale chasers say?). very impressive offering on the whole, honored to be a part of it. thanks guys!

Bro'in down at Apex. Pours a clear copper with a thin white head. Wine and oak, slight oxidation on the nose. Lots of oak, berries, quite sour, red wine. A good beer but didn't live up to expectations. But hey, bro'in down, bro!!
