Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.75%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale started out as six individual brews, each with their own personality, and all incorporating Brettanomyces and or micro-organisms. Once the barrel aging was complete, Russian River’s Vinnie Cilurzo and Toronado’s David Keene got together to create the final blend. To create its fine carbonation, we re fermented the Toronado 25th Anniversary Ale in this bottle. Spent yeast cells from a thin layer of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Pour slowly, allowing the natural yeast sediment to remain in the bottle.

Blend:
4% Sonambic (barrel aged for 15 months)
16% Blonde Ale (barrel aged for 8 months)
36% Strong Pale Ale (barrel aged 12 months)
28% Ale Aged with Currants (barrel aged for 8 months)
12% Strong Dark Ale (barrel aged for 12 months)
4% Baltic Porter (barrel aged for 10 months)

Very nice tart and sour beer. Pours a hazy amber colour with a nice bit of head that quickly dissipates into a few soapy looking sudz. The smell is pretty complex. It has a lot of similarity to the pinot noir barrelled Supplication, especially as it approaches room temperature, but with a bit more barnyard funk and hints of fruitiness. The taste is pretty tart and ascertive. Mouthfeel is nice and soft. Overall a very enjoyable beer that is a special treat to have.

Light ruby with a hint of orange, creamy white head. Oaked and light tart cherries and currants. Notes of leather.

Tart red grapes with lemons and the combined acidity. Mild sweetness and malt in the middle. Finishes with dark fruit and lemons, malt and light oak. Belgian Pale seems to carry the the rest of the flavors well.

Overall is very good. There is a noticeable Consecration-like note that seems to be the most dominating flavor of the blend. The Beatification base shows as well in the acidity, although it is such a small component of the blend.

On-tap at the brewey on release day. Damn you TurdFurgison.

A: Cloudy deep current/iced tea color with a soft film of head. Great sheets of lacing left down the glass, great film retention.
S: Smells a bit like Consecration with a bit more fruit diversity. Tart smelling with good dry oak barrel quality. Stone fruits, maybe peach, and lots of dark fruits come through.
T: Definitely stone fruits mixed with dark fruits. I get a touch of lemon, currents, oak, acid, and a faint hint of acetone. The finish is fruity and dry.
M: Drying yet smooth mouthfeel. Tartness is clean, refreshing, and mild. Extremely drinkable. The tartness is acidicly citrus.
O: A very sold sour beer. It's no better than RR's year round sours but it's no worse, just different. I'd definitely buy this along with the other regular 375ml sours if this was available year-round.

On tap at the brewpub, $6.50 per glass. Deep copper color, clear with thin legs of lace. Complex is an understatement, lots going on in the aroma. I didn't get a chance to try the component beers but it seems evident that they contrast well. Definitely a darker smelling sour, more like Consecration than Temptation...

Assertive bite in the flavor, nothing too agressive but it gives a slight pucker which I appreciate. I get dark fruits like plums, possibly some lighter apricot as well. Not so much acetone.

This drinks very well, I had to pace myself. Very happy to try it, and I drank many glasses of it over a 3 day period, but many of RR's standard sours are equally good.
