Notes / Commercial Description:

During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces.

A - nice yellow hazy beer with a big white head that sticks and leaves a nice lacing
S - smells like tart lemon, white wine, little bit of white pepper and barnyard in there but mostly tart lemon, chardonnay does come through
T - same as the smell. Has a tart lemony flavor that sticks on the palate.
M - medium mouthfeel, alcohol covered, aftertaste is tart citrus rind
O - really well done. As a wild ale I think it's a little less complex than I'd like though. But it's different and VERY well done.

Another solid sour offering from Russian River. The wine notes came out very nicely in this and the Brett added a nice subtly funk on the back end. Another beer that was not out of this world but I would never pass up a bottle if I saw one.

Bottle date 5.5.16

Appearance: Beautifully bright golden orange color with big chalk-white head. Dissipation is reasonably quick.

Smell: Barnyard funk, lemon zest, champagne yeast, and herbal spice. Crisp floral notes as well. Wonderful.

Taste: Subdued tart, some bready malt, overripe banana, apricot skin, and champagne. The funk is much more pronounced with some warming.

Mouthfeel: Clean, effervescent feel with a soft finish.

Overall: This is one of the better sours I've had in some time. Definitely glad that I found some in Philly!
