The vibe that I felt might be skewed: my friends and I visited during Pliny the Younger release. We got there around 8 and waited for the place to open. We were lucky and were part of the first hundred to be let in. The wait was easily manageable.

Once inside, it was like beer Mecca. tons of beer pilgrims were wide-eyed with glee. I tried to not let the hype overwhelm me, but I was very excited. I ordered my first PtY and a 25 taste flight. This is one of the best offerings in the business. You get to taste everything.

My friends and I had a blast and picked up some takeaway bottles. The food was subpar, but we didn't come for food anyhow. I strongly recommend the trip if you are thinking about It.

This place is somewhat inconveniently located in a strip mall in downtown Santa Rosa. Parking was somewhat difficult to find on my visit and the brewpub itself was very busy. There was nowhere to sit and it was difficult to get a beer. Once I did get a beer I shuffled around trying in vain not to be in anyone's way. I finished the beer as quickly as I could, bought a few bottles of Pliny and got the hell out of there.
Their beers are good and there are plenty to choose from, but the this place is overrun and overrated. The service probably isn't "bad" so much as overwhelmed--and they do manage to give the place some internal character/decor considering it's in a strip mall, but the crowd/noise was too much for me to actually enjoy myself.

What can I say? One of those places you dream of visiting, and when it happens, its a dream come true! Visited last September, and got every legendary brew they had available to take with me on my journeys. You have to pay for parking if you use their joint lot, as its checked regularly. Place was packed mid day on a week day, efficient and helpful servers, and overall an exuberant feel.

Had not anticipated visiting RRBC, BUT so glad we made the drive from Bodega Bay! The long wait to get a table was all worth the wait! ALL the wait staff are very professional and hard workers. Kudos to management!

The first time I tried to roll into Russian River was the day they released Pliny the Younger. The line to get in was 5 blocks long!!! I do consider myself a beer-nerd, but I refuse to stand in line for four hours just so I can tell my friends that I had the Younger on the day it was released. It is probably a fantastic beer, but it is just beer. That said, I do believe that Russian River has set the standard for what a great IPA should be. Pliny the Elder doesn't just have great taste, it is a well balanced ale that hits multiple notes as it crosses from the front of your mouth to the back of your throat, and that is something that is hard to say about 99% of the IPAs I have had in the past 30 years. I came back to Russian River a few months later after Pliny the Younger was long gone, and I tried their full flight. There wasn't anything I did not like, including Supplication, the first sour wild ale that I fully enjoyed. Thank you for expanding my palate, Russian River! The food was basic burgers and fries, but that is not why you want to come here, is it? In fact, if it good food that you want with Pliny on tap, I can tell you to head over to Korbel's Winery along the Russian River. They have great gourmet deli sandwiches and cheeses with always one or two Russian River selections on tap.

Went here for Pliny the Younger and was not disappointed. Waited in line for 3 hours on a Thursday morning to get in and try the Younger. Staff was awesome and generally seemed like they enjoyed the crazy nature of the younger crowd. Everything ran as smooth as possible and I really enjoyed it there. I will be going back next year.

Food is better that excellent and beer is world class. Was blessed to come for Younger and not disappointed! Had my allotment of three and then tried a new one, Jane Drake, good beer, but not a Pliny.

It is all about the beer here. They could easily charge more or change the look, but not doing so represents their commitment to beer excellence. Food is good too - although it is just there so that you don't get drunk without feeling hungry!

Made a small diversion from wine country with the wife here on a Friday night for dinner and man, Friday nights here are packed! Wait time was acceptable for the number of people and you can get beers while waiting, which is good. The vibe is odd, but not off-putting, as it is on an old street in Santa Rosa, nestled in the standard row of businesses. Inside is a cross between a pub/sandwich shop interior with a giant bar and some tv's.

Variety of beers is pretty self explanatory if you know their portfolio, with 16 beers on tap (8 traditional ales, 8 wild ales). All are above average or great for the most part. The best part is that they have a full, 16 pour flight. Service was very prompt for the crowd on a Friday night. The food was very good for what was on the menu, but the menu itself is basically just a pizza and grinder menu. The food we had (garlic bread, pizza) was very good.

Overall, this is a must for any beer fan in the area. Good food, great beer, great service, and a solid offering of beer to go combine to make this a real treat of the craft beer brew pub world.

Its all good. The beers you rate lower would be higher had you not had them against the rest of the line up. But each expression hits point and house style is threaded throughout. Thanks for being only 45 minutes away.

For the beer pilgrammage all need to do!

This place was amazing and very family friendly. It was my west cost summer trip to California with my wife and 3 kids (7, 5 & 4) and we got to sit at the bar with the best bartender. My wife is a wine and martini drinker and to her a beer is a beer. The bar tender let her sample some great beers on tap and now the wife is a fan :) (sorta).. Would visit again and hang out with the hipsters LOL.

I visited Russian River while road tripping down the West Coast, and I'll admit that visiting RR was a big part of deciding to do the road trip. I got to drink Pliny at the source and make all my friends jealous.

I was extremely happy with my decision to visit RR. I had high expectations, and they were all met. The atmosphere is great, lots of beer-centric decorations (a Hamm's sign! antique photos of hop farmers!), and a large, welcoming bar. When I visited, the place was absolutely slammed, with standing-room only; still, I got good and efficient service at the bar (I did eventually get a seat).

They had 18 beers on offer, split between 9 "regular" beers and 9 specialty/sour beers. As I expected, everything I had was outstanding. I even made myself try the dubbel, which was pretty good despite not being one of my favorite styles. Everything else was, as expected, great. I also grabbed dinner; just a sandwich and salad but super tasty. Russian River is definitely worth a visit if you're in Santa Rosa, and it's worth making a special trip just to go there.

Rated 2x, different occasions, onsite, RRB, last week. Lacks the intensity of PtE, and Pliney's complexity and length of finish, yet an IPA for non-IPA lovers, smooth, light in the mouth, not feather light, more cumulus clouds light, with evergreen and eucalyptus notes, tinged by overripe grapefruit on the nose (after vigorous swirling), that reappears momentarily on first sip. Pleasant, not memorable, other than the name, fast-forwards from initial taste to abrupt finish, bypassing mid-palate impact. Likely better, if not tadting side-by-side with Elder. Fun and mildly pleasurable, yet a bit overwhelmed by "Mikey,". RRB's sausage and pepperoni pizza.

A true iconic place to visit. Always 2 or so taps of their offerings and plenty of great options. Food is standard pub fare. They do sell bottles and growlers to go. Was there twice while in Santa Rosa and was glad to stop in.

Went in on a Sunday early afternoon, drove by myself straight from SFO ( great drive ! ) Had to wait in line about 10 minutes because they were at capacity. The place was pretty packed so I just ordered a pint of Pliny and stood around for awhile, eventually a bar seat opened up and sat next to a couple guys who were real nice. Also talked to one of the bartenders for a bit who was cool. Enjoyed a couple tasters of some sours and finished with a pint of Row 2, Hill 56. Didn't order any food but it looked fantastic, got some Pliny, Blind Pig, and some sours to go. Enjoy my short visit there but couldn't stay too long because had to drive myself to Sunnyvale!

20+ minute line to enter on a Saturday afternoon, crowded bar... but worth the wait. Solid selection of outstanding house brewed American and Belgian styles on tap. Efficient and helpful staff at the bar. Well worth the visit to try some prototypical ales.

This years was better than the last two and live up to the hype, definetly as good or if not better than its brother Pliny the elder, it's overall taste was smooth but not overly sweet for being a triple, and the alcohol was so balanced you feel it all come together when you take your second sip and you just smile...the balance of hops sweetness from the this beer is amazing and definetly a bucket list beer.

Wow, this place was super busy for 1pm on a weekday. Seemed like lots of people from all over, including me and my travel partner who were on the opposite coast from the one we're used to. A friendly bartender talked to us about all the far away places people come from when he checked our Maryland IDs. Quality is without a doubt excellent, as evidenced in the superb beer. Lots of beers to choose from too, though I had to get Pliny the Elder. Didn't have any food here, so leaving that blank.

Arrived here at 11am for opening to ensure we got a table. This is Mecca for heathen beer geeks. The place filled up and was packed by 11:45 - loud and busy. Service was good and knowledgeable - they knew their beers. There were 20 beers on tap. You can get a flight of California beers and Belgium sours styles.

It is typically extremely packed in the evenings and there has always been a line to pick up Pliny (in the morning) when I was there. The waits are typically not too bad though. In my experience the staff is friendly even though somewhat spread thin on a busy night. There is always a large fantastic selection of regulars and special brews (can be found on their website ahead of time). Food is what you would expect in the range of brewpub food. Because it is RR, i think inherently the vibe is quite cool. Especially if it is your first time there

Stood in line for about 30-40 minutes on a weeknight. That was annoying and unexpected. Set the tone for the visit a bit I guess.

And then so damn crowded once I got inside. Couldn't even find a seat at the bar so I ended up requesting a table just so I could sit down and drink beer. I prefer generally to sit at the bar chat with the bartenders and other patrons and more easily order beers. This too put a bit of a damper on things.

I didn't find much in the way of beers I hadn't had for. Another disappointment but given how awesome their beers are it was nice to try Blind Pig and Supplication on tap.

Biggest bummer was that by the time I had my beers and wanted to grab something to go from their shop, it was closed. Womp womp. Can't win 'em all.

I made what I like to call "the pilgrimage" for Pliny the Younger Day. As expected we waited in line extremely early to get in and with good seats. The beer ....of course.... is phenomenal, the food is great, although to be honest we didn't really get much food. The Pliny Bites & Beer Bites were awesome. The server was suer friendly, very nice, helpful, and especially of note is that this is probably the busiest day at the Brewpub of all year. She was great. Lots of reviews for this brewpub, so, it is definitely worth going to if you like their beer.

There was an half hour wait to get in and another half hour to get a table. The to go line had no line when we were there. Beer selection is great and the sampler of all their beers on tap (21) for $22 was a great deal. The place was packed as it was a Saturday night. The service was good and the only disappointment was the food which was just average Italian fare. I came for the beer so wasn't disappointed there. I picked up a fixed box of 12 beers and some merchandise on the way out so have some Pliny at home now.

Great brewery and restaurant food quality. Gotta love their Pliny bites. The only thing their really lacking is quality stouts but they've got at least 8-9 amazing beers available here at all times. I wish they had a better system for their bottle releases (we've waited in line before for Bestifivation for 8 hours) but that's how it goes I guess. I still keep coming back because they've obviously got all other aspects of running a brewery down pat.

Cool place, almost always lines now. They seemingly intentionally create a greater more desperate demand by the way they handle staffing. The quality of the product is top notch and not debateable, its one of the best breweries in the whole world.

There is pretty much something available for a wide area of beer choices. Hoppy, mild, sour, bready, smooth, robust, white wine barrel, red wine barrel.

Good food, pizza and calzones are phenomenal.
