12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a lightly hazed, golden-copper body with a medium-small, whitish head that settles to a thin film. Light lacing.

Smell: Fruity-scented hops, a little orange, a little melon rind, a little basic pear overlaying a thin malt scaffolding and a little burst of earthy herbaceousness.

Taste: Blended wheat and pale maltiness, thin edge of graininess. Lightly sweet. Citrus, melon, pear hops notes, additionally earthy, grassy. Medium-plus bitterness; it's not altogether rough on the palate, but, the malts are not nearly hearty enough to hold what's there back. Thinnish finish with lingering hop flavor and (reasonably light) bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: An easy drinking dose of hops.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a nearly clear light copper with a half finger white head. Pretty average head retention and lacing but it could be much worse.

The aroma of this beer is really where it shines. Tons of citrus reminiscent of a well put-together IPA or APA. While the tropical citrus is nice, there is a serious lack of malt here which put it a bit out of balance.

The absence of malt continues into the flavor. Once again excellent hop flavor but it is missing that necessary balance. Really no malt to speak of other than some grainy astringency. Bitterness is moderate to high but with this being a session IPA, mouthfeel suffers substantially. It is like drinking water.

Overall, I like the concept of this beer but like so many in this session style, the body suffers. I would love some more malt flavor in this.

From a bottle shared by a friend of mine visiting me. Sampled on July 4, 2014.

The pour is cloudy pale yellow with a modest little head.

The floral hops on the nose tend to remind me of grapefruit. Bitterness is evident.

Medium body.

Like the aroma the taste has a kind of mild malty character at first but it flourishes into a fruity and bitter bite at the end. Sessionable. Not overly bitter but enough to make me remember.

A single picked up at Total Wine Dunwoody

A - Bronze with no clarity, no head or lace

S - Huge bitter hop aroma! Definitely was dry hopped. An IPA thats for sure.

T - Like the aroma, it has a big bitter taste but well balanced too. Tough to do for a session brew. Tasty as hell!

M - The only place I can knock this brew is that it is kinda flat. Not much carbonation going on.

O - As good of a session IPA that I have ever had. I could drink this all day long. Extreme taste to satisfy hop heads but still just 4.2%. Red Brick is really doing great stuff lately. New and improved!

12oz bottle from Barrel and Barley (Woodstock,GA). 1.69. Bottled 2/27/14 (this is the first time I've ever seen a bottle date on their beer. Thank you Red Brick!). Served in a Red Brick snifter.

Pours hazy pale yellow orange with a full finger of soapy white head. Decent retention and a fair amount of lace.

A pleasant citrusy hop aroma. Orange is the only identifiable fruit with just a hint of malt.

Flavors are light and refreshing. Orange, lemon zest, hints of pine, mildly sweet wheat, pehaps a bit of cracker and a vague spice character. No perceivable booze at all. Unassuming and very easy to drink.

Light body with light but adequate carbonation. Citrus hops and mild, sweet wheat aftertaste.

I'm not sure why this has such a low rating. While it may be a far cry from the high-octane imperials I typically reach for, Hop Circle is a tasty and highly drinkable brew.

This is a damn tasty session IPA - just picked up a bottle in Statesville, NC.

Pours a nicely light golden shade with a minimal head and a bit of lacing. It could use a little more carbonation - but it's nicely bittered, not a floral IPA. I would drink this all day long. I've had their Beard Envy release a number of times now - squirreled away a four pack for later. I thought they were a new brewery... then talked to their brewer at the Hickory Hops Festival, they've been at it for something like 20 years! Good session IPA.
