Had on tap at Hop's Burger Bar this afternoon.Poured a deep dark chocolate brown with a creamy beige head atop.Aromas of chocolate and roast with just hint of pepper burn.A full creamy feel really enhances the beer.Flavors of chocolate and mild cinnamon but not to much spice from the chilies wich really would have made this beer great.a solid milk stout here.

From a cask at the 2014 Sweetwater Brew Your Cask Off Festival.
This "milk stout brewed with organic chai spices" poured a dark chocolate color with reddish edges.
Refined and balanced, particularly for a one-off cask ale, with the base milk stout and Chai spices both about equally present. Light notes of ginger, cardamom, pepper, coriander, and cinnamon. Sweetness is about average for style.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown with a large tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. the taste heavy on chocolate with some pepper and spice. The beer did have an odd medicinal like after taste. Overall, a solid milk stout.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of chai, lots of spices, some roasted malts. Taste is tea like up front, spices are present but not as strong as the aroma, roasted malts appearing at the finish. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. Bottleneck says Bottled On 11/18/14.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/4 inch light tan head that bears little retention time before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and minimal surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Big burst of chai tea and other assorted spices. Hard to derive any malt smell with all the spice going on.

T- Even the flavor is just spice overload with only a hint of any actual roasty malt or hop bitterness coming through. Totally one-dimensional.

M- Kind of thin with medium carbonation and a fullish body.

O- As a huge fan of chai, this was a bit disappointing for me just because there was no transformation of flavor. Just straight chai, which makes it drinkable for me, but there's nothing else to play off it. A great concept that just wasn't executed to its fullest potential.

If you like Chai tea this stout isn't going to be quite what you're looking for. While it has a nice cinnamon smell and taste, you don't get all the various spices that are essential to a good Chai tea. Overall the taste of this beer is spicy with a dark bitter aftertaste. I personally don't find this appealing in certain stouts and would have preferred this one to have left my palate with a more spicy, rich note then a bitter one.
