Pleasing light amber color for a Japanese beer. Lovely hoppy smell which brings me back to the days of yore when I had the geographic ability to indulge in an IPA whenever I god damn wanted. This alone may be enough to bring me back to this beer again and again. The taste, however, does not quite deliver to what the smell promises. The initial impact is a hopeful one, but one is soon let down to discover it fizzle out into the usual clean finish, with a little 5.5 ABV bite. Still. Hoppy smell.

Poured a big, fluffyhead which was slightly chunky. Spotty lacing. A light golden color with some visible carbonation. Decent enough start.

Aroma is of malts with some lager yeast. Not much else.

Taste is very sweet with some faint citrus in there. Decent hops backbone.

Mouthfeel was somewhat dead. Very light and lightly cleansing.

Overall, a drinkable beer and would be decent in a pinch. Nothing to get too excited about, but different than the typical Japanese rice lager.

I'm just now reviewing this, but i could've sworn i entered a review for this months ago. i like "za purimiamu" and it has almost replaced yebisu as my regular go-to j-mac.

nothing special for appearance, looks like 1000 other beers. but the head retention is pretty good, and today was a muggy warm may day so a cold lager is music to my eyes. nice smell, not very pronounced but definitely pleasing floral, hoppy aroma.

this is almost watery-weak compared to some better bitter pilseners. it does have an acceptable bitterness, and it's almost ridiculously better than asahi super dry, but there are much better pilseners to be had. recommended.

This one's got some quality bubbles on it, slowly dissolving--which lent a very attractive quality to it, especially as it pegs itself all around the glass. The smell is also interesting, malty and zesty, like you're about to take something in that's got substance. Robust.

As for the taste, the big plus is the grainy and quite long hoppy trip. I think it's particularly lacking in the mouthfeel department, feeling pretty flat in the mouth. Let-down. Still, I could drink quite a few of these, but I'd probably go for the normal Malts, by Suntory, which I feel to be a superior-tasting brew.

An interesting and confusing aspect of this beer is the bottlecap, which has a strange symbol that I've never seen Suntory use. It looks something like a creature from Space Invaders, or some sort of Aztec wall art. Bizarre and unexpected. Don't know what to make of it.

They also call this "chilled beer", which one may also ponder.

Ingredients: malt, hops
Brilliant gold color. Light fine head. Light body, light taste. Significantly more bitter than the average Japanese lager. No significant difference from Malt's Beer, except for a slightly more hoppy floral aroma, the bracing bitter after taste lingers for a little longer and 0.5% more alcohol.
