This brew comes from the Marin County Breast Fest in California that takes place the second Saturday in July. This festival is basically a beer festival where all the proceeds go to the To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation. I guess you could say this Haze Craze is a true West Coast IPA that managed to make its way to the other side of the state to my living room. The Haze Craze is a deep orange hazy IPA that have 6.2% abv and 60 IBUs. The Haze Craze is pretty bitter for a Hazy IPA, with some hoppy citrusy notes and orange peel.

Can dated 04/13/18 into a tulip glass.

L: Pours murky orange golden with several fingers of rocky white head with great retention and left mixed/spotted lacing.

S: Almost all citrus on the nose, perhaps very subtle floral undertones. Nose doesn't pop.

T: Follows the nose, but not necessarily in an appealing way. LOTS of astringency and some bitterness, astringency lingers and drys the palate quite a bit.

F: Medium bodied with higher carbonation, lively and tingly on the tongue.

O: Not a particularly good representation of the style, so much astringency, will not repeat.

Canned 04/13/18

Appearance - Pours hazy and dull orange with an off-white, near two-finger width head. Fair retention results in a thin, consistent layer of suds with a thick buildup around the edge of the glass. Lacing consists of thick lines and a few spots here and there.

Smell - Moderate aroma, hitting on orange juice, yeast and lesser papaya character.

Taste - Fair, juicy notes of orange, pineapple and papaya before a strong punch of grassy and pithy bitterness kicks in mid-taste and dominates the finish, leaving a long lingering bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with a good amount of tingly carbonation. Slick texture makes this an easy drinker with a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Not a bad beer, but definitely one of the more lackluster hazy IPA's I've had to date. They need to tweak the formula and dial down on the bitterness, because this is not a West Coast IPA.
