Pours a very prominent Amber color almost raspberry but not quite, with a thin but sturdy retentive head.

Smells a bit grainy with a mix of roasted malts..?

Taste is very scotch heavy without the bite, very smooth. Mid, is almost a milk chocolate like flavor, finishes with a very nice scotch taste with no bitterness at all.

Very smooth, best scotch ale I've had

650 ml bottle, as Moylan’s Scotch Ale, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Golden reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and woodwork, hints of dark dried fruits and red wine vinegar. Malty flavour, notes of caramel and dark dried fruits again, very moderate hops. Smooth to drink. Enjoyable.

Scrappy notes from early 2011.
This beer has a dark iced tea color with a creamy tan head. It's smell is sweet and flowery with bready malts. The taste is fantastic and fresh and a little bit fruity with a good amount of hops balancing out the sweet malt. I love the hops that are used here. It has a smooth creamy texture and drinks easy for it's alcohol content. It's also a little bit toasty with caramel. I got the last bottle in the store. It is excellent and fresh tasting.

No canning date; consumed on 7/16/21

Pours a clear yet deep varnished mahogany body with rusted maroon accents, and capped with two fingers of taut, pale beige foam; good head retention yields a quarter-finger of silky, creamy cap, large, frothy collar, and firm layers of webby lacing lining the walls of the glass.

Aroma offers a supreme caramel tone upfront, expressively floral textures underscoring ample depth as brown bread toast subtleties become apparent; toffee and a tinge of smoke bring a sense of weight over the middle of the bouquet before an even lighter spritz of minerality balanced with brown sugar notes closes.

Taste features heavier notes of burnt caramel and light bread crust accents upfront, with a Flintstones vitamin sort of chalky character a temporary interlude before figgy esters engage the sweeter aspects of the malt profile once more over the mid-palate; ashy toffee realizes a heavier earthy quality, though a soft stone fruit after effect sees brown sugar sweetness through for a richness on the finish.

Mouthfeel shows a medium-light body with a fluffy, moderate-high carbonation, gliding with a delicate spritz through the mid-palate; consistency is firmly fluttery, deft and almost weightless for the ABV, with a mild warmth and background char easing through the background of the back end toward a dry finish.

With an almost decadent simplicity, a single-minded focus guides this take on the uniquely amplified yet approachable malt profile of the scotch ale; though vacillations in roast expression do breed breed sense of inconsistency with the predominant sweetness, the foundational drinkability and committed execution doesn't waver.
