Hopgarten Pilsner
Moylan's Brewery
Style: German Pilsener
ABV: 4.50 %

LOOK: Crystal clear straw yellow beer. Large soapy head forms and leaves plenty of spiderweb like lacing on the glass. Looks every bit like a true pilsner beer.

SMELL: Floral hops, grains, bread, earthy and standard lager smells with a bit more herb notes than a macro pils.

TASTE/FEEL: Light and crisp on the palate as per style. There is a strong earthy hop character and grainy malt body with some cracker like components. Very light and a bit watery, quite bitter, high level of carbonation.

OVERALL: A pretty decent pilsner beer from Moylans. A little rough around the edges but still plenty of flavor to keep things interesting. Would pair the best with bacon/beer cheese covered fries.

Light gold color. Thin lip of head on top with just enough to cover for awhile. 3.5

Lemon rind hops are perky. Grassy elements and an oyster cracker malt. Very fresh portion with lots of crisp pils aromatics. 4.0

Lemony citrus, herbal tea, sourdough, German malts. Quite outstanding in its American hop flair. Finishes clean as a whistle with low bitterness. 4.0

One of the easiest beers I've ever drank. Smooth and almost sweet going down with a lightly refreshing carbonation presence. 4.5

Amazing pilsner from Moylans. Will have to pick up some of these if/when I see them. 4.5

On draft @fatheadspgg

Arrives a pale Ale straw color with a small soap suds head and aggressive carbonation.

Pale malts dominate the nose.

A clean crisp pils with a thin biscuity flavor profile with a slight peppery finish. Not much from the hop garden, but a wyality pilsner nonetheless.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a clear yellow with a medium white head, leaving some good lace.

S: Sourdough bread, some notes of grassy hops.

T: Very much a grainy malt character with a hint of vegetables, corn type flavour. Hopping is good, but really doesn't show itself.

M: Light-bodied, fairly flabby, no real crispness.

O: This is an OK pils, has some off-flavours, but not really a bad beer in the end. Fairly drinkable.

On tap at Moylan's. Poured into a pint glass. Comes in at 4.5%.

A-Not as clear and golden as a lot of pilsners. It is much more of a dark yellow with a one finger off white head. Not seeing any visible bubbles.

S-The usual pilsner suspects. Smells of pilsner malt, noble hops, and some grain.

T-The pilsner malt and the noble hops are both upfront. It is not very grainy tasting and there is a tad bit of bitterness.

M-Medium bodied and thicker than a lot of pilsners. It is lacking some carbonation. Not as crisp as I would like.

D-Lower abv makes this good for a few pints, but it needs some more carbonation.

The flavors in the beer work very well, but as mentioned, this one is missing the crisp carbonation that is usually found. Will try again when they put on a new batch.
