On-tap at Beachwood BBQ
A: The pour is absolutely great. Mahogany in color with two fingers of dense, creamy khaki colored head which leaves sticky lacing on the glass.
S: Lots of bourbon up front with a strong oak character following quickly behind. Booze, toffee, and caramel provide the typical barrel aged barleywine aromas along with a bit of chocolate on the back end.
T: Sweet toffee, brown sugar, and caramel at first. The bourbon provides a noticeable alcohol warmth, but also a nice vanilla flavor. There is a very strong charred oak flavor on the back end which becomes more prominent as the beer warms up.
M: Medium in body with a smooth, medium carbonation.
O: The strong charred oak flavor was a bit too much, especially as the beer warmed up. Otherwise, a really nice beer.
