Had a glass of wine upstairs at the West End Wine Bar, then went downstairs. They didnt have a huge selection, but what they had was pretty solid. They had New Belgium Hoptober, Triangle Brewing Co Belgian Style Golden Ale, and Carolina Brewery Sky Blue. The atmosphere gets kind of dark and dingy. They did have board games like connect 4 and apples to apples. I know this sounds childish, but it was lot of fun. Probably the best thing they had going for them.

The staff was knowledgeable, but they could use a bit bigger selection.

This place is below the Wine Bar on East Franklin. Over near the Carolina Brewery. The first thing I notice when I go to this place is all the smoke. I don't smoke, and I don't mind people smoking but it is just too much for me. Very dimly lit, sort of cramped. There are couches and some billiards tables and a jukebox as well.

Quality and service are standard to a bit subpar. I take off on the quality because of the smoke. I just can't enjoy a beer here. And it isn't that clean of a place.

Selection is pretty standard with a couple of micros that are interesting to try on tap. Not really a large bottle selection as I remember, but I didn't really look into it.

Prices are pretty standard for the location.

Just as Jonathan had mentioned The Cellar is downstairs from the West End Wine Bar, the easiest way to enter from Franklin Street would be to head to the rear of the Wine bar and go downstairs.

There are two pool tables in the center of the room making some of the tables and kind of cramped. The place is pretty dark and there are some couches to hang out on.

The bartenders are pretty easy going. Their selection is quite limited but there are normally a few tasty beers on tap.

The place is worth stopping in for a visit especially if you have wine drinkers yearning to stop by the West End.

The Cellar is beneath the West End Wine Bar. It can be entered either from an outside staircase, or through the back of the Wine Bar. You can bring beers from downstairs to the upstairs bar, or visaversa.

There are about 6 taps, at least three being microbrews.

The atmosphere is a bit grungy and dark, and they allow smoking in the bar. There are a couple of pool tables and a jukebox.

Both times I've visited, the bar staff has been super friendly, but I haven't stopped by when it was really busy. If you're out on the town with some wine drinkers this place is definately worth a visit!
