7/7/18...pitch black with very high tan foam that launches up and slowly erodes. Coffee roasted nose, woody. Heavy whisky flavor, smooth mouthfeel, light bodied. The aging takes the sweetness out it seems. Notes of chocolate and dark malts swirl around. Pretty good, and certainly mellowed by time.

On tap at Uno’s. Very smooth. Can use a little more flavor, but the lactose smooths this out nicely. Light bourbon finish. Its also apparent in the nose. Carbonation could be a little more potent.

The whiskey is very subtle. Dark almost black color. Not overly sweet.

Had this at the Cloverleaf last night for the first time as this was one of the beers leftover from the River Horse tap takeover that took place earlier in the week. The beer that I had was aged in Jack Daniel's barrels but had I not known that, it would have been pretty rough to discern. This was a tasty beer that looked and drank smooth but the sticky, caramel that served as Jack's hallmark was tough to distinguish here, even though it did come out a bit in the aftertaste.
This poured a dark brown as the 8 oz. serving filled the snifter glass it was served in quite nicely. Not a lot of head or visible carbonation as the appearance and mouthfeel were both smooth and relatively creamy. Lots of oatmeal in the taste to accompany the cream with the caramel coming in the back, with all of this on top of a slightly woody and smoky undertone. Not a lot of sugar or lactose here but there was a hint of milk chocolate that fit in well with the ease with which this went down.
It didn't feel strong in terms of the flavor profile and I never tasted the alcohol in this either. Only when I finished this off did I feel a bit of booze on my breath but by no means was this a strong beer. Had there been more booze and hints of the Jack in this, this would have been a potent Stout that would have stood out from anything else I've ever had. As it was, It was a Milk/Sweet Stout that wasn't sweet but was still easygoing enough to be properly categorized. As it was, this turned out to be a nice Stout for these warmer months...
