Poured from 12oz bottle into a Pilsner glass.

Appearance: golden hue with a touch of haze and tons of effervescence. Head poured two thick fingers of pillowy white foam. Normally I expect this style to be crystal-clear, but since the bottle says this beer is unfiltered, I guess I can cut them a little slack. It actually looks quite appetizing.

Smell: light, slightly grainy malt with some earthy and slightly spicy hops present. Not too bad, if a bit mild.

Taste: light, sweetish malt with some noble hop flavor and a little bit of bitterness. There's a bit of an aftertaste to it which is kind of sour and grainy, but other than that it's a pretty solid tasting pale lager.

Mouthfeel: light body but great carbonation. Pretty creamy for a beer of the style.

Overall: a decent if unspectacular pale lager. The initial flavor is great but the aftertaste takes a bit of the shine off of this beer for me.

A- similar in appearance to blue moon, hazy and light in color. Low head retention, with medium lace.

S- there is a nice sweet ands bready smell, slightly yeasty but very nice. Touches of citrus and lemon zest.

T- it is very interesting, it has the light and melow characteristics of a lager yet a great sweet bready malt flavor from the wheat.

M- great, creamy and smooth. Nice bright intro with a mellow smoothness to the back end.

O- very surprising. I went into this with low expectations, but came out pleasantly surprised. Infinitely drinkable with great smooth and well blended flavors.

Poured into a mini pint glass, color is translucent pale gold, small thin head but a light ring, no lacing.

Smell is nothing to note, mild pale/pilsner malt flavors and just a touch of hop bitterness.

Taste actually somewhat fruity up front, more on the malt sweet type of fruit flavor with a bitter finish. Interesting flavors for lager but a little to sweet for me.

Mouthfeel is actually ok for the fruity taste, i think the hop bitterness comes through to finish of odd flavors.

Overall, a drinkable beer, hinted at a touch of cider in a piles or pale ale.

pale golden yellow with a huge amount of carbonation inside. Lots of bubbles stretching up toward the surface throughout the session. A small white, fizzy, soda like head formed on the top and hung around for a brief second before finally settling down and leaving nothing across the top, nor any side glass lace.

The aroma was dull, boring, and bland. This was your classic macro lager. Light aroma of grain and rice and that was about it. The taste went nowhere as well. While it was crisp and refreshing, so is water and this was not what I wanted at the time. Very light grain flavor and no depth at all. The finish was non-existent

Honey colored beer that has a slight haziness.
A well carbonated brew and it has a rather large off white head thats long lasting.

Aroma is fresh with malts in the fore front and light hop bouguet in the back.

Tastes good with lots of malts and some hops for balance. Hops are light and I can't really pull out any particular flavor. Finishes with a grainy ending.

Thinner mouthfeel, dry and tart.

A good tasting beer with lots off flavor well made.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that quickly died down and left some lacing.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of grainy malts in the nose.
T: The taste is dominated by flavors of grainy malts and has some hints of initial sweetness and a slight amount of bitterness in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is very drinkable and it’s quite flavorful for the style. It would make a good accompaniment to a meal.

White fluffy head that fades very slowly to a creaminess. Golden hazy body that seems very bubbly. Foamy lacing sticks to the glass.

Grass, grain, buscuits and faint fruit. Nothing too in your face, kind of bland. I hope the taste doesn't follow.

Citrus -- I'm thinking lemon and orange peel, bread, yeast and a faint caramel. Kind of bland but refreshing at the same time. Sadly the blandness followed with the taste but the refreshing feel helps to keep it at average.

Light to approaching medium body. Carbonation is there about medium level. Feels nice and easy going down.

Sadly the taste and aroma is on the bland side but the refreshing feel of the beer helps it out. This is certainly a session beer and is what saves it. I think people who are getting into beer, this is a non-offense beer to try; definitely better than your macro Lagers.

River Horse Lager…..in a bottle…it notes that it is Unfiltered.

Appearance-golden color in the glass, minimal white head rises up and disappears quickly.

Smell-actually a decent hop aroma dominates, some fruit and malt on the back end, along with the grainy-ness I normally expect.

Taste/Mouthfeel-light to medium mouthfeel, hops upfront with a mix of grain, somewhat muddled but decent smoothness on the way down, light fruit notes as well. Finishes with a last light touch of hops.

Drinkability-muddled flavors but the hoppiness is interesting enough, no major flaws.

Overall-interesting if not entirely successful take on a hoppy lager. Ok but pales in comparison to some others. Worth a try.

Had this on 2011-04-04 in Columbia, PA.

A - Clear, golden straw with a short, white head and very mild lacing.

S - Not much. Sweet, bisuit malt and maybe a little fruit.

T - GBread, a fair amount of spice and grass. Reminds me a little of a dry apple cider. Clean finish with mild lingering apple/grain taste and mild bitterness.

M - Light body and carbonation. Pretty crisp.

O - Easy to drink. Not a remarkable taste but not boring either.

Appearance: Pours a lighter gold color with decent head retention.
Smell: Light malty aroma, mild floral hop presence.
Taste: Lighter malt presence, bready in nature, with a small degree of balancing hops. I can also detect some honey. Finish is clean.
Mouthfeel: On par for a euro pale lager, IMO. Smooth and clean.
Drinkability: Quite drinkable. Light and well-balanced.

Overall- nicely done lighter lager. Pleasant brew here.

A: Rich golden hue w/ fat carbonation bubbles streaming to the surface. Dismal white head died almost instantly. Rather transparent for being unfiltered.

S: Sweet 'monkey-bread' like aroma w/ a real mild hop smell at the tail end.

T: Definitely malty (yeasty perhaps?), bready body to start w/ a bit more of a bitter hop finish then detected in the nose. Definitely leaning more towards the sweet side.

M: A light to medium body w/ an abundance of crisp carbonation.

D: If you are looking for a quick refresher, this is a good beer.

Not really sure what to think of this one. Just seemed way too sweet for a euro pale.

Smell: grass, honey, and toasted malt

Taste: grass, honey, and bread

Mouthfeel: light bodied, high carbonation, sweet with a bitter backbone, smooth

Drinkability:Super sessionable. I like the grassy honey combo. River Horse's best so far. For the style, this beer is exceptional.

This brew poured into a pint glass a lovely hazy deep yellow. For some reason I could'nt help but think Hefeweizen minus the head. It barely had a head which clung to the glass in tiny gobs.
This Lager smells like crisp pale biscuity malts, fresh grass, and a slight herbal hop hint.
The taste is very bready malts with a slight sweetness. There was also fruity(apple and pear) hint in the finish. A bit of a hoppy biterness in the finish caps things off pretty good. Definetly a clean crisp quality Lager. The beer is medium and a lot fuller than I expected it to be.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours cloudy hazy light amber with initial finger of foam that settles. Some lacing.

Mild smell, light hoppy grassy notes.

Taste is clean, crisp and refreshing. Big gulper.

Tasty lager, very smooth.

Could drink a bunch of these. Not overly complex, but an easy going well made lager.

Lable says "don't even try to out geek us". Funny.
One of the best lagers I've had in a while. Meduim hop profile and clean sweet malt flavor. Great balance. Very nice biscut taste towards the end. Finishes pretty clean but still sweeter than other euro lagers. I was itching for another sip again and again. Went great with my buffalo wings. The drinkabillity is exceptional. Ill definately be looking for offerings from this brewery in the future.

Appearance - River Horse Lager has a nice dark golden orange hue, and more-than-average carbonation. The frothy ¾ inch head lingered around the top of the pint glass after I poured it and took my first sip. This beer has a modest turbidity and looks very tasty

Smell - This one smells sweet. I might call it floral or flowery, but not like a real hoppy beer. Definitely more aromatic than what the word 'lager' brings to mind. An exceptionally nice scent.

Taste - RH Lager tastes really, really good. That sweet scent carries through to the taste. I can't say what the flavors are, but they are lightly sweet without taking away from the refreshment of each sip. It is well balanced and there are no extreme elements. I imagine that this is a much more full-flavored beer than your average "lager."

Mouthfeel - This is a hearty beer. It is smooth and almost creamy. The carbonation is delightful. I would characterize RH Lager as a bit on the heavy side in this category.

Drinkability - This is an awesome beer. I think it is making my list of faves.

Tried the River Horse Unfiltered Lager on a whim. I had high hopes at first. The initial taste is full of flavor--maybe a little subtle malt/biscuit flavor but as it goes down, it becomes very average. Also, too carbonated for my taste. Appearance and smell also unremarkable. The end result is not unlike a very average domestic (mainstream) beer.
