Notes: Staying true to the name, we double dosed this IPA with Citra hops by adding them in the boil and again during the dry hop, where we combined them with Mosaic hops for their complex fruity aroma. We also used huge amounts of passion fruit and white grapefruit to create this super citrusy and refreshing IPA.

Hops: Citra, Mosaic, Falconer's Flight
Malt: Pilsen, Honey, CaraPils

A thanks to the founding father of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy orange color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, grapefruit. Taste is of grapefruit, some wheat, very mild bitterness, I didn't get any passion fruit in the flavor or aroma. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall I expect better from this brewery.

Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Blood orange color, hazy, opaque. Thin lacy white head

Smell: Very fruity with passion fruit and grapefruit. Citrusy

Taste: Sweet, not very hoppy for an IPA. Mostly grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation.

Overall: A very citrusy IPA that is not too hoppy. Very good

-spiegelau ipa glass.

A: Dark and juicy, dense, with a billowing light beige capping 2+ fingers in height. A ton of effervesce, rapid pace within s highly dense natured glowing sunset orange colored body. Big daps of lace stick nicely to the vessel walls. The coloring is juicy, hazy, and mouthwatering.

S: Fresh wet citrus and tart lemonade. Juicy grapefruit with some backdrops of peach and lemons. Nice awareness level, juicy and wet nature.

T: Flowery bite of grapefruit peel and citrus peel, lightly dry. Lots of dried orange flowery hops, bitter, dry, with some wheat stalks. Nice flowery bite of citrus and pollen coating on the swallow. Floral with some fruitiness.

M: Sharp tingly nature of carbonation, thick and creamy malts, lush, with warming citrus glow.

O: Being local and familiar with this brewery from the start, they have really up'd their game of late with a sour program and some hop bombs. Their portfolio has increased as well creativity and have steadily growing. Beautiful deep orange coloring, dense, juicy, well retaining head. fresh burst of citrus and grapefruit on the nose as well some dry hopping on the flavor. The flavor gets stronger deeper into the drink. Great drink-ability, six pack worthy, disappears quickly from the glass.

In my first year of returning to substitute teaching after retiring as a tenured classroom teacher, I had one colleague who was really into hippopotamuses. I mention this because that is the literal translation of the word from Latin. Hippo = horse & Potam = river as in "Mesopotamia" - land between two rivers, ie. the Tigris & Euphrates. If you didn't know, now you know. It's a part of The CANQuest (tm) to get smarter as I go & to share the knowledge.

From the CAN: "A White Grapefruit and Passion Fruit India Pale Ale".

It came in yet another pounder Pint CAN so when I Crack!ed open the vent, I beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass to avoid a mess. However, the beer itself looked like a mess! I then cranked up my efforts & really let it run freely, creating just over two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with good retention. Color was a murky, cloudy Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) & resembled turbid river water caused by the past week's heavy rainfall. Nose was great, though, with loads of grapefruit leading the way. I have always liked the taste of grapefruit, whether the fruit or the juice, and finding it as a flavor in AIPAs was a double-plus bonus for me. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but big for the style. The taste was initially very bitter, leaving no question as to the grapefruit portion of today's program, but then a tropical fruity sweetness beCAN creeping in to cut some of the bitterness. I CANnot say for sure that I would have identified it as "Passion Fruit" on my own, but it was definitely tropical. Finish was dry and lingeringly bitter. It is not for the "Bitter Beer Face" crowd, but for this self-avowed, self-described hophead, it hit the spot.

Appearance: pours a cloudy orange color with a 1" head that slowly falls to a thin surface covering. Some lace develops.

Smell: very mild citrus aroma.

Taste: biscuit, big sweet grapefruit flavors, some milder tropical fruit, pears, and a moderate bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp throughout. Light dryness late.

Overall: an enjoyable citrus leaning IPA that is well balanced.
