Really enjoyed this one. Chocolate heavy in both nose and taste but nothing overly sweet. Well made beer and deserves attention from chocolate/beer people.

First had: on tap at Broad Axe Tavern, Ambler, PA

Damn tasty porter right here. Kind of reminiscent of last year's batch of Voodoo Cowbell. Dark brown-black pour into a chalice, moderate tan head that sank to a ringlet and left a bit of lacing on the glass. No ABV listed. Aroma of roasty malts, cocoa and chocolate...I pretty much knew this was going to be a good one from the scent alone. Taste of creamy chocolate milk, with moderate roastiness that is slightly dominated by sweetness; a bit of earthy hops in the finish. This was definitely served too cold, so I let it warm up a bit for the flavors and body to come out more. Smooth mouthfeel, not quite full-bodied--definitely a porter and not a stout--very solid and drinkable overall. Quite a surprise from River Horse, I must say. They should definitely continue making this one, and offer it on nitro.

On tap.

A - Dark brown pour with a layer of light tan creamy foam.

S - Chocolate fudge aroma dominates the nose with some cocoa and vanilla.

T - Roasty chocolate, fudge brownies, light chocolate char, vanilla, and ends with a lingering bittersweet chocolate fudge that errs more towards the sweet side.

M - Full body, velvety, sugary and sticky on the lips.

O - This is an exceptional Chocolate Porter with a lot of flavor. Recommended.

On tap when I had a half hour to kill. Pours nearly black though you can see a little red in it when you hold it up to the light. Strong chocolate scent on the nose, though not cloying or overwhelming. Lacing follows the entire pint down the glass. A malty chocolate flavor with just enough bitterness to add both balance and some complexity. A very nice surprise and a fine way to kill some waiting time. Would have had a second if I was sticking around.

Solid black , above average body,a little thick and creamy. Carbonation is just above average which takes away from the body a little. Aroma is all types of chocolate, milk, cocoa, dark, some cream, sugar and malt. Taste is very similar, milk chocolate, a small bit of espresso, cream and sweet malt. Overall a very decent porter

Was really surprised at how good this was. Smooth feel, light body, and plenty of chocolate taste. Could easily have a few of these. Will keep this on my radar.

Pours near-black with a tan head and lasting lacing.

The nose is dark chocolate chips, bakers chocolate, and faint wood/char. Like brownie batter as it warms.

The taste is dark and milk chocolate, marshmallow, and licorice. Very minor roast and bitterness.

The mouthfeel is medium.

Overally, pretty good. Chocolatey without being over the top. Like Sam Smith Chocolate Stout, kind of.
