Poured into a dimpled mug. Nice looking deep copper colored pour. Two finger head that is an oft-tan hue. Great lacing down the glass. Scents of apricot and plush apples. A bit lacking on the nose, however except for sweet caramel. Medium bodied with almost a belgian-candi type sweetness but the sweetness is quickly removed with a massive dash of hops on the wash. Tea leaves come through. Some apricot noticeable, as well. Pretty clean and piney, a bit too much for the style. Very drinkable and a nice stab by a macro brewery at the style. Will buy again.

Very nice Maibock. Not too sweet but had a decent touch of hop to it. Another solid offering from Straub. I've been very impressed with them lately.

this is a pretty good beer and a tough style to find in PA, price point is excellent at below 30 skins. Very creamy and malty with notes of molasses and honey a little light on the ABV for a Maibock, but very tasty.

I updated my review on this one. The 2016 version seems better than I remembered. First off the clarity is impressive. It starts with a nice head and the lacing is improved over years past. Thick rings down the glass that stick with each sit. Bold sweetness up front gives way to a floral hop bitterness and dry bread on the back end. Over all I would put this version of a less tackled style by American brews up against the Germans on this one. I like most Straub beers but this is the one that they should be most proud of! Great stuff!

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.
Thin lacing but it stays, Harvest moon amber hue show off its clarity. Big malty nose with faint honey on top of a massive breadiness, clean with a hint of alcohol. Slightly sweet upfront, then a loaf of bread on the palate. Healthy dose of hopping all around with a balancing bitterness and grassy resin middle to finish. Nutty graininess with a hint of grape-skin rounds out the semi-dry end.
A real treat being not many US brewers tackle this style, definitely worth checking out.
