With this being a Weiss bier I was looking for something along the lines of a banana-ish lemony flavored brew that would be great for the summer time. The beer poured like a good hefeweizen should a cloudy amber with highlights of yellow. This beer turned out to have the look of a hefeweizen but not the taste. To me it was more like a pilsner which really was a shame to me. I was really hoping for something smoother like banana and got something like fresh cut grass instead.

Presentation: .5 Liter green bottle with no freshness date or info about the beer.

Appearance: Excellent head retention with a pillowy foam that rises quick, cloudy yellow colour is dimmed by the yeast that was decanted.

Smell: Spicy wheat aroma with a spicy lemony hop backing that goes a little floral in the aroma, some neutral tones of yeast and grain also.

Taste: Crisp in a very refreshing way, flowing moderate body and a very well textured carbonation. Lemony at first taste with an even light malt sweetness. Crisp wheat on the palate, spiciness comes from a slightly assertive hop bitterness. Neutral powdery yeast and hints of fruit come to mind. Faint phenols leave a mild herbal flavour that lingers into the dry finish.

Notes: Hugely thirst quenching and very palatable. No similar line in character to Pinkus being a bit more neutral that other German Style wheat beers.

A faintly clove-y, spicy, fruity, hazy, whitish-yellow, German-style wheat beer, not particularly a favorite of mine. Quite sour and lemony in finish. In Germany, the term "white" is usually associated with wheat beers. I have always believed this was because top-fermenting beers were characteristically hazier than lagers in the days before modern filtration techniques. It would be interesting to see how this Lithuanian example is processed.

A lightly cloudy yellow body is topped by a frothy bright white head that holds well (but should be better for a weizen). It keeps a thin head throughout most of the glass and leaves some minor lace. The nose displays a grainy maltiness over the typical weizen characteristics. The medium body is accentuated by a fine carbonation that's lower than normally expected for the style. It's mildly tingly on the tongue before becoming lightly creamy in the mouth. The flavor, however, is much more in tune with a typical Bavarian weissbier. A grainy, sweetish malt is enhanced by fruity, citrusy (lemon), bubblegum and clove flavors from the yeast. Bitterness is low, as expected. It finishes drying with a touch of residual malt and a lingering note of clove.

As it sets in my glass the color a light lemon yellow and slightly chill-hazed, head is modest in size, creamy in texture, and the color a brilliant white, after dissipating the lace formed a thin sheet upon the glass. Nose is lemon crisp, somewhat sweet, with a malt underpinning; start is tart and loaded with malt, top cadaverous. Finish is tart; hops are minimal in their spiciness, dry lingering aftertaste. A pretty lame excuse for a wheat beer, and not one that gains favor with me.

Weissebier from Lithuania???? ok
but it is good.
Aroma clove, banana, with hop aroma like a pilsner. My bottle was a little skunky, get rid of the freaking green bottle.
The mouth feel is full but watery.

i see myself drinking this in the summer not the winter.

Poured from a slightly over-due bottle (may 05) into a pint glass. First off this beer has a slightly skunked smell, but I think that's due to being a couple of years old so I wont hold it against it. It pours a pale murky yellow color and has a really smooth and milky head. When tasting the beer I got a quick pilsner-like hop taste followed by a more in-depth buttery and malty side. The texture was creamy and soft and I found the beer to be quite quenching. The butteryness opens up more as the beer warms. This would be an excellent beer to drink on a hot summer day.

500 ml bottle from Estonia

Pours yellow hazy with generous dense and solid head, excellent retention - head in one finger thickness remains till the end of the glass. Aroma is spicy wheat, some hints of floral, fruit, some yeast as well.

Taste is simple and a bit sourish lemon, clean malt with faint floral hops and medium-dry finish. Mouthfeel is smooth medium with average carbonation.

It was rather hot today and this beer was excellent refreshment.

My first beer to try from Lithuania, at least as far as I can remember. Pours to be a glowing golden, cloudy, brew with a thick stark white head. The aroma is grainy, hints of lemon, and has some sourness to it. It has a nice flavor, the wheaty malt presence is good with tangs of lemon. The feeling is smooth and has a good carbonated texture. Leaves a crisp finish. I will have to try some more beer from Lithuania.

Now Kvietinis Baltas alus, 4.3% ABV.
Pours cloudy yellow beer with good white head, receding slowly. Aroma of yesterday socks along with other pleasant weizenbier traits, that we all love in this beer style. Taste is quite mild, less fruity and spicy, than of wheat malts, fairly worsened by smell. Finally, we get bleak and ordinary beer with repugnant smell.

Kvietinis Baltas alus. On-draught into a plastic cup in Vilnius. Reviewed from notes taken Summer 2014.

HEAD: 2.5 fingers worth of head. White in colour. Nice frothiness. Good complexion. Soft fluffy consistency. Very good (~5-6 minute) retention.

BODY: Cloudy yellow. Translucent. Nontransparent. No yeast/sediment is visible within. Good vibrance.

AROMA: Banana, clove, fresh wheat, cream, barley, ale yeast esters. Maybe a hint of lemon.

Appealing, but more lemon is desired. Pleasant though muted, and of below average aromatic strength.

TASTE & TEXTURE: Refreshing and quenching. Smooth and wet. The softness of the beer is lovely. Light-bodied, complementing the taste well, though it's a biteen too thick. Good mellow presence on the palate. Not oily, gushed, sticky, syrupy, astringent, harsh, or rough.

Taste hits fresh wheat, banana, clove, and clean barley malt. Balanced if simplistic. Very enjoyable and pleasant, with no booziness or off-flavour at all. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.

OVERALL: It's a nice refreshing wheat beer that I'd get again. Highly drinkable and a nice summertime thirst quencher.

High B- (3.23) / WORTHY
