A: Poured a clear pale gold with a creamy, soft ½ finger snow white head. Visible carbonation was light while the head stood up fairly well clinging to the sides of the glass as it receded in the middle to a thin film covering.

S: quite odd, sugary, mealy, and maize notes.

T: sugary sweet, with fresh grains, and maize. Light bread dough and fresh citrus peel with wet grains. Overall a rather sweet drink.

M: light, watery thin, with a light malt sweetness.

D: Drinkability was pretty uneventful, sugary sweet, to much so to drink in multiples and not worthy of seeking.

Well I thought I would go ahead and knock out Guatemala from the list. Pale yellow color, I could only score it lower if it had know head or carbonation whatsoever. This is the skunkiest beer I think I've ever encountered. So, unless that's what you're looking for, avoid at all cost.

Presentation: 12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date or info about the beer. Imported by Central Beer Import And Export Inc.

Appearance: Wow, one of the lightest colored beers I have ever seen … I have seen tap water darker than this. Very clear with a dusty ring of lace.

Smell: Vague hop, hint of grain husk and cooked corn.

Taste & Mouth Feel: Quite crisp with a film that cover the mouth. Thin and watery with little malt character at all, hops are almost nil … the cooked corn is there. Faint bite of alcohol and astringent grain in the finish.

Drinkability & Notes: Why? Very close to water, very little flavor at all.

12 ounce bottle

Pours super light golden, clear next to no head, no film, collar or lace.

Perhaps a trace of corn on the nose.

Super light and lacking any and all tasty

What can be said...one of the worst beers I've ever sampled

A waste of some probably decent water

The beer pours a clear light yellow color with a decent-sized white head. The aroma is grain with a little bit of citrus notes mixed in. The flavor is full of grain, some malt sweetness and a little bit or orange or lemon. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. The beer is not exciting at all, but it is not offensive like so many other Central American pale lagers. You can do worse than this.

L: Brilliant straw under a 1” pure white foam cap. Lacy. S: Aromas are very low. Light grain and some spice.
T: The flavor is very light with grain, light sweetness at first then dries out, some apple. Apple flavors grow as it warms.
F: Light bodied with above average carbonation.
O: This is a straw colored liquid with little flavor or aroma. While not grotesque, this beer provides little reason to drink it.

Uh, more like "infamoso".

A beer with water spilled in it. Maybe even more watered down than light beer. Appearance says as much. Weak, hints of yellow in the water. Funky beer spilled in couch aroma.

Taste, flavored water. No malt or hops. No mouthfeel, kinda expensive for such poor quality of a beer. Why do all the south of the border imports have like no ingredients in them, but they still cost over a dollar a bottle? This shitz terrible. Recommend only for people who don't like beer. Or hard liquor. Or mixed drinks. Or wine. Or wine coolers. Or pond water.

If i were working in a field in Guatemala I would probably have enjoyed this one more but out for dinner it's just mediocre. Appears a fizzy yellow tone with a large white quickly disipating head leaves behind specks of uneven lacing. Aroma is all corn, rice, 2 row malts very cereal in nature with a kiss of grassy hops coming through. Tate is okay non offensive but yet it not impressive lacks depth or flavor but it's refreshing semi sweet cereal grains blended with low hop bitterness makes for a great mass produced beer from Central America. Mouthfeel is run of the mill light bodied high carbonation very unnatural nothing great. Drinkability is not bad I'm glad I got a chance to try a new beer but it's another mass produced lager.

Small white head quickly dies into no lacing above a clear light golden colored beer.

A sour lemony and hops aroma on this light watery bodied beer.

The taste is more of the sour lemons and light hops bitterness that the aroma forewarned us about.

The best thing about this beer was the dry aftertaste with some of the hops sticking around throughout, if that is a saving grace.

Buy Natural Light in a can if you want a beer like this, at least you can recycle the cans.

12oz bottle - sometimes, ya just gotta reset your palate after all those IPAs, stouts, Saisons, and sour brews, eh?

This beer pours clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with one finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy dirty white head, which leaves some scratchy coral atoll lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of musty mixed malt (the corn kind of jostling with some pale graininess), stale apples, a weak minerality, and some very ephemeral weedy, dead grassy, and skunky green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, corn pone, a bit of phenolic yeastiness, overripe pome fruit, and more understated skanky, weedy, and wet leafy 'hop' bitterness.

The carbonation is adequate in its structurally mandated frothiness, the body on the medium-light side, and sort of smooth, as an indeterminate acridity exacts a minor tithe here. It finishes off-dry, the wan malt essentially ushering us out the door.

Overall, this is by no means good, but is hardly the worst example of the style that I've come across. Very plain, unassuming, and yes, likely something that if you were drinking it very cold, with some spicy local cuisine, would work just fine. However, as a one-off, display your national brewing prowess sort of thing - not so much.

Appearance- light yellow with a huge white head. The head held up nicely though.
Smell- light sweet corn. Polenta(grits) came to mind.
Taste- very watery. sweet corn husk flavored. Not horrible though.
Mouthfeel- watery and sweet.

Overall- a sugary sweet polenta flavered beer. Not that good but much better than a bud, miller, or coors!

Cheesy and malty aroma. Some initial foam, light colour, hardly even yellow. Some malty and corny and salty taste, a tad like Saaz hops. Light body, strong carbonation, somewhat astringent. Not too drinkable, marginal overall. A point only for mild bitterness.

Pours a clear yellow beer with a thin head, mildly carbonated. Smells of slight corn,,actually has very little smell. Tastes of corn very thin,,not good at all. What a lame beer.Mouth feel is watery. Drinkability is low i would totally love to drink bud over this crap.

Branching out in my adjuncts here (heh)...

Poured from a 33.8oz (999.58 mL?) bottle into a pilsner glass.

Blasting Alice in Chains - "The Rooster" of course.

Very pale green-yellow and clear body with heavy carbonation supporting a creamy finger and a half of ghost white merengue. Average lacing, but surprisingly good retention.

Corn and malt aromatics - was expecting some off notes or sourness but instead it is rather neutral (I am serving this quite chilled though). Very faint dank alley note suggesting pilsner malt.

Sweet bland, but clean and (dare I suggest) refreshing. Corn, rice, water...yep.

Light bodied, effervescent.

Gallo is borderline characterless (as is the style), but seeing how this is brewed by one of the oldest (and only remaining) independent brewers in Latin America, and it tastes quite a bit better than Corona (for example), I wouldn't dismiss it so readily. I bet this would pair well with a hearty bowl of Kik'ik (as for me, I tried it alongside some smoked chicken I made tonight)...

I have had this beer on several different occasions, with most recent in San Salvador of December 13. To me this beer taste is similar to Miller Lite, but has stronger and better taste. It pours light pale yellow/straw, with a petite head, and has sparkly appearance because of carbonation and heat of the country I was in. It leaves the mouth dry, unquenched, but it does have a unique hint of citrus. It is also light filling and can put back many in one sitting.

This is sold under the name Famosa in the United States and I have procured this from Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago (IL), Holiday Liquor in Edinburg (TX), various locations in Guatemala and El Salvador.

Guatemala March 2013 and El Salvador December 2013.

Despite pouring the beer into the middle of the glass, the thin head could not even cover the surface. The body is clear, light straw colored.
There is absolutely no aroma, which might be a good thing.
The taste is a little grain, metal and mild bitter at the end.
The texture is crisp with a high carbonation.
Not a good beer.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Kennesaw, GA. This is a very pale straw colored beer with a slightly skunky aroma. This beer has a very weak beer taste and is completely unremarkable.
