My Cornet comes in brown glass 33cl bottle produced by De Hoorne Brewery in Steenhuffel Belgium,. The Same place as the Palm Brewery part of the Dutch Swinckels group (Bavaria). It contains Barely and Wheat. But I am quite sure there is some yeast, sugar and water in there as well. And most important "oaked", which means oak wood chips were used during lagering. It has not been aged in oaked casks, sadly, which deepens the flavours. Like real Lambieks with natural yeasting. But it is a smart controlled way to get a bit to a Geuze flavour and smell to a pretty good blonde strong ale. Second fermenting/yeasting on bottle as well, just as the Geuzes/
8.5% ABV. Poured in a proper Cornet 33-50-cl-glass, making it to the 33cl line with a pretty 2 finger head.
Smell like oak, Bit of peaty. Some burnt tar scent there.
Quite carbonated.
Flavour pretty smooth. Oak, Little citric acid and caramel aftertaste.
Then the alcohol takes over, it warms you, with bitter sweet aftertaste. Little bit of choclate and brunt toast.
Prefer the real Geuze, but this beer cannot be ignored.

330 ml bottle, as Cornet Oaked, probably from Føtex, Ebeltoft. ABV is 8.5%. Pale golden colour, huge white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian ale yeast, hints of oak. The flavour is also spicy, with notes of white kandij sugar, but not too sweet. Moderate oaky notes, low bitterness.

I’m learning the difference between oak casked vs oaked. With this strong Belgian I was looking for more of an oak casked taste with more maturity. With the beer being oaked it meant that oak chips are included in the brewing process. The beer tastes great but has a lighter, less sour taste than I was hoping for.

This very popular beer, as of speaking in Belgium, wich everyone seems to love, is just not as good as the hype would suggest. To much alcohol in the nose, the oak hints are just not well balanced. The body is fine yet thin for a beer of this class. It's dry, smoked and very in your face. It's a fine marketing model, but the beer itself is average at best.

330ml bottle.
L: Dark gold with a light haze. Several streams of microbubbles. Three fingers of foaming head settle quickly to a lumpy cap, leaving arcs of lacing.
S: Acetone.
T: Belgian yeast, sherbert lemons, alcohol. Initial sweetness becomes very dry. More acetone.
F: Sharp carbonation upfront reveals a thick, tongue-coating richness. Bitter finish.
O: Complex, very dry, very alcoholic. Too much 'nail varnish remover' for me though.

De Tercertiempocervezas. En copa Grimbergen. Jugando a Mtg Arena. Perfil limpio con notas a roble que recuerdan a una mahou barrica. Se bebe sin problemas pero pasa sin pensa ni gloria. Abv bien oculto

A really nice strong pale belgian beer, with a bit of oak feel complementing the taste.
