This is a really nice session beer. As I was told on New Belgium's tour, this beer was the inspiration for Fat Tire. And like Fat Tire, people need to appreciate this beer for what it is trying to be.
Is it very complex? No. Is it a revelation in your mouth? No. But it is a great easy-drinker. Less biscuity than Fat Tire.
Touch of pineapple on the nose. Small amount of caramel followed by slight amount of Belgian yeast esters.
Really nice lacing with a good amber color which matches the body. Not too deep a color.
Very nice "gateway beer."

Poured on draught at 5.2%abv:
Clear copper body, paper thin head.
Smells of smokey malt
Tastes nutty, bitter, a little fruity, quite metallic… dry finish. Not completely unlike a macro red lager.
Light body, heavy carbonation.

Draught in Groningen.
Clear copper body, with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with a fair lacing.
Moderate malty (caramel) and fruity aroma.
Moderate sweet flavour with a light acidic note; some bitterness in the short-lasting finish.
Light body with a watery texture; soft carbonation (maybe beacuse draught); light metallic feeling in the finish.
Not fully satisfatory.

At first, i thought that is larger. Copper color with a creamy white head. Mild malty aroma. Taste of caramel malt with some spices. Light bitterness. I hoped for more from Belgian beer.

Large head that almost overflowed a wide-mouthed glass. Lumpy recession. Good lacing with some thick streaks. Hazy, amber color.
Strong metallic nose initially. Mostly malt with a light Belgian yeast smell.
The Belgian yeast taste is strongest. Again, the malt is the main flavor. The body is oily but there's plenty of carbonation to cut it. The swallow brings the warming effects of the alcohol.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a stemmed glass goblet. Dark reddish-amber colored body, with a couple of fingers of white head that left a curtain of lacing as it settled. You want a beer that "tastes like beer"? This is it. Malty and slightly bitter, with notes of grain, grass, and herbal hops. Smooth and silky mouthfeel, good carbonation. Finish is quite dry and satisfying. The brewer's note says it all: "Full-bodied taste that's easy to drink, perfect with a variety of foods - and always with good friends nearby. Cheers!"

I had this on draft 4/11/23 @ the Hopleaf.
See-through ruby red appearance.
Huge khaki head; frothy lace.
Orange peel, rustic wheat & faint berry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Mild flavors of caramel, orange peel, soft wheat & a hint of berry.
Enjoyable.

Aromas of sweet malt, with a little clove. Very flavorful, subtle cloves and plenty of toasty malt.

Taste is bready, slight caramel, Belgian yeast.
