poured a deep amber/copper with a thick white head that dissapated fairly quickly. slightly citrisy with a slight bread smell, kinda hard for me to tell the smell it is not too strong. tastes of sweet roasted malts at first then ends fairly bitter. its very lightly carbonated. i could easily drink this beer again but i will probaly never buy it again.

500 ml swingtop bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and bakery, some fruity hops too. Malty flavour with caramel and bready notes, not very sweet, spicy and fairly hoppy bitter finish. Dusty aftertaste. Okay.

Nice dark beer with a bitter edge. More bitter than your average dunkel. Pours dark brown with above average fluffy beige head. Aroma is coffee, roast grains, burnt toast. chocolate. Taste leans toward the chocolate and roast grain with some sharp bitterness at the finish.

Pours an amber-brown color, with a huge, spongy and fizzy head.
Smells of coppery wheat, with a nice lactic tartness to it. Matured, grassy hops are recognizable, mingling perfectly into the whole grain bread foundation of the beer.
Has a lively, yet soft carbonation to it, showcasing the beers refreshing malt smoothness in an easy drinkable fashion.
Tastes of toffee malts from the beginning, with a slightly metallic carbonation adding a coppery quality amongst a bright breadiness. Malts turn more toffeeish while getting perfectly balanced by the bread, together with a pleasant mix of tartness and hop bitterness, both complimenting the beers malt characteristic. Finishes clean with a malt beer reminiscence and bubbly carbonation wrapping up the toffee.
Drinks refreshing and light with a great, convincing, multi layered breadiness to it. Very convincing for my palate, without turning overly sweet, due to its rich bread profile.

A - nice head, a dark ruby color when held up to the light and slightly more brown when in average room light.
S - Fairly strong aroma, predominately cereal and hops with a hint of sweeter malts. Very little else besides this.
T - Initial taste mostly cereal and malt but quickly digresses into a watery void with a hint of malt. The end has a very bitter and unnatural aftertaste.
M - Like the taste, very watery; for a dunkel there is very little substance here.
O - very weak; would not recommend this beer. 2 and half is quite generous here.

.5L bottle served in a stone beer Krug.
A- Clear Amber/Brown served in a glass beer mug.
S- Toasted malt, cereal grains and hops.
T- Lightly toasted malts, slightly watered down for a Dunkels beer. Good tasted but very light, mellow light hops.
M- Mild boy, medium carbonation.
D- Decent beer, but light for a Dunkels.

.5L, Germany, best by 4/11.
Pours a wonderfully clear, rosy amber. Decent one-finger head, nice retention and lacing.
Aroma has some vague toasted malts and the slightest hint of toffee.
Flavor is malty and lager-like, but there is a pervading metallic note, unfortunately. A little bit tangy, with a sturdy bitterness, earthy hoppiness, and well-toasted maltiness, all of which help redeem the beer following its negative first impression. Mouthfeel has some decently effervescent carbonation, but sits chalky and rough on the tongue.
As a dunkel lager, this stuff is okay. I'll finish the bottle.

.5Liter flip top bottle (purchased 2 for the review) 5.5abv 240kcal per .5L OG is advertised at 13% by brewery.
Batch# 16 L295M4 J
Both bottles were poured into 2 types of glass. For the 1st bottle, into a .3l pils glass. 1st Bottle had black mold on the washer, but no spores in contact with product. Suggest a foamy fob at bottling. Tough to accomplish with these flip tops as it is... The 2nd was poured into a hefeweizen glass, bottle was clean.
A: on the 1st & 2nd was a tan head & highly carbonated with a 2.5 finger head that had little retention. Foam collapse was immediate. In the Hefe glass, the pour had the appearance to a Cola. Large bubble release at first, with consistent bubble release throughout the consumption over many minutes.
S: Bready to almost meaty aroma. Especially on the second pour. No sulfur note. No diacytl note.
T: Malty with some sugar & carmel flavour. Very very little soap tastes as reported by others.
M: Slightly thin with a dry finish starting from the roof of the mouth.
D: It is a fair Dunkel. I can say that I tried it...

Appearance - 4 finger, white head, dissipating to 1 finger head fairly quickly. Lacing is poor. Body is a clear, dark coke/mahogany.
Smell-- Some sweet caramel Munich malts. Unusually grainy however.
Taste-- Amazingly clean for the style. Nice notes of caramel, malty flavor upfront, with a hint of nuttiness in the finish. Not much of a dunkel, but a very pleasant beer to drink.
M- clean, medium body; low carbonation.
D- Its a nice fresh clean tasting dunkel but perhaps a bit thin on the maltiness.

Pours dark mahogany with a light brown, bubbly head. Roasty, malty aroma with some molasses and bread. Watery mouthfeel really detracts from this one. Toffee, caramel ice-cream topping, and a metallic bite round out the taste. Tart finish. Disappointing.

Coca-Cola colored, with a thin, quick head. The smell is sweet and hoppy.
But the taste is where the fun begins.
There was a cavalcade of tones: tangy yeastiness, hops, milky-wheat-vanilla, all painted on a slightly sour canvas. Really fun.
The mouthfeel is great, with the multilayered presentation, but the flavors wear thin half-way through the 1/2 liter bottle. If this beer had more palate endurance, it would be really good.

Reddish brown, quite clean, few bubbles. Dirty white head, quite creamy.
Some strange smell in the beginning, it tends almost to an hell, with biscuit notes.
As a dunkel, either, quite strange and peculiar.
Cereal notes, more in the taste.
Not too inviting, in the end.
Some hop in the aftetaste, quite long, too, with root and liquorice notes.

Atractive brown bottle with swig top, 0.5l poured into seidel.
A- 3 finger rocky head, disappating to 1 finger head, lacing is moderate. Body is dark mahogany with litte light transmission
S- Sweet caramel munich malts, vanilla, honey. no bitterness.
T- Clean, nice caramelly malty flavour upfront, a bit of cream, a bit nutty in the finish but i feel it finishes a bit quickly
M- clean, medium body and carbonation.
D- Its a nice fresh clean tasting dunkel but perhaps a bit thin on the malty goodness, Inoffensive and easily drinkable though.

Courtesy of Diddie, my lovely German flatmate, who brought it back to London from her hometown Stuttgart. 500ml swing-top brown bottle, BB 29/04/07, served chilled in a 500ml weizen glass.
A: dark copper to brownish hue; the off-white beer head comes effervescent and tightly frothy with very good retention; the tiny and moderate fizziness flows constantly~~
S: dusty, yeasty, limey and caramel-malty upfront, decorated by a crisp edge of bread dough, the trademark of well-lagered beer... The overall aroma is well-balanced and approachable.
T: a mouthful of light-bodied roast-chestnutty maltiness with a bitter edge of caramel... the subtle sweetness of bready and semi-roasted malts receives backing from restrained but noticeable dried-leafy hop bitterness that sustains pretty well at the back. It could've finished better if not for a rusty/rough mouthfeel deeply attached to the tongue.
M&D: softly-carbonated, medium-bodied, quite easy to drink, although the texture falls a bit thin in the very end. All in all, an average Dunkel this is, but my gratitude to Diddie my friend is all the same~~
