I hadn't been in here since they got rid of their hard liquor selection; they definitely upped their craft game since! Beer surrounds the outside ring of the store with wine in the lower middle section. About 1/3 in coolers and 2/3 room temp. Most of what they had was also available as singles. A nice mix of local brews (including a couple I hadn't previously seen distributed such as Zaftig) and out of state breweries with larger distribution. The gentleman behind the counter was quick to offer to help me find anything and pointed out a few newer arrivals but then gave me a run of the store after I mentioned I was browsing.
I'm from out of town and this place had a nice selection of local beers and some stuff I can't get in TN! Prices aren't bad and walked about with some Hoof Hearted. My only complaint is that it isn't well organized and a lot of stuff isn't clearly priced.
Drive by this place every day to and from work. Great selection. I've stumbled across some pretty hard to find beers here. Friendly employees always willing to help and talk beer. Only downside is the growler station - too pricey, need better rotating taps.
We have been in the Westerville area 3 years and this is the only place we go to buy our beer or wine! If you are looking for a great selection and a staff that really knows the product, this is the place to check out. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The selection is outstanding. I will recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a basic 6-pack of domestic, a specialty beer or that hard to find wine. Also, if they do not have what you are looking for (rarely happens) or if you are going to purchase it on a regular basis, they will make sure that they keep it in stock for you! Definitely worth stopping in and checking them out!
I don't typically write reviews but am doing so because of the excellent customer service experience that I have whenever I buy beer from this store. I went in this evening and the woman who works there (wife of owner I believe) ran up to me carrying a 4 pack of Dogfish Head 61 IPA that had just arrived and asked if it was what I was looking for. It was and I didn't even know it yet!
Aside from the amazing service, prices are very reasonable and selection is decent, especially for central Ohio. She gets a lot of stuff in there; we even scored one of the few bottles of Founders Doom in the area from this shop.
Located at the Sunburry/161 exit in front of Rush Creek Bar & Grill <sports bar>. Great parking if the bar isn't packed (and it usually isn't). To walk in to the place one might think it just sold wine, not exactly, the beer is on the left in the cooler with some on the shelf as well.
The service seems nice but need english lessons. I asked if they carried any Buckeye Brewing and he had no clue what I was talking about. In his defense he asked me to bring in an example and he would do what he could to get it. In fact he said he'd try and get aything I wanted as long as I could provide a name and a brewer. Kinda cool...
Selection is decent like Dogbrick says; GLBC, Stone, Anchor, ecetera...nothing tremendous.
There's a better place at Cleveland and 161 which I'll review later - once I remember the name ;) All in all a decent above average place to grab a cold 6'er of GLBC.
Located near the Rte 161 and I-270 interchange, this is one of the few places in the Westerville suburb where you can find craft beers. There is a parking lot with plenty of spaces.
The building itself looks kind of run-down and is attached to some kind of tavern that I couldn't even determine whether it was open or not. Inside, things looked better. The store is pretty much divided in 3. One part beer, one part wine, and one part liquor.
The beer selection is not great, but again for Westerville it is probably the best. You can find Stone, Bell's, Anchor, GLBC, Sierra Nevada and others. The singles selection is pretty weak, and there are only a few imports from the likes of Chimay.
The service is decent, I was asked if I needed help with anything and there were several people working there even though they were not very busy.
All in all there are better places to find beer along the north side of Columbus, but this is probably your best bet for Westerville to find something worthwhile.
