Nov. 2015: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Very dark brown / mahogany colour, moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, brown kandij sugar and various mild Christmas spices. Plenty of caramel and brown kandij sugar in the medium sweet flavour too, again fairly distinct notes of Christmas spices. Warming mouthfeel.

L- Initially it looked black, but held to a halogen bulb there is a flash of deep ruby through it. Pours with 7Cm fat mid-tan head, holding well.
S- Toasty, then a hint of cherry, and also a rich/fruity aroma that reminded me of the spiced baked fruit in an Xmas mince pie.
T- Heavens, if you could design a beer that had a palate resembling a British Xmas mince pie, well this might be close. It is certainly different. There is a liquor-ish facet in it too, perhaps the 9% enhances that. Alas it's notably sweet for my taste, too sweet.
F- Rich/sweet, rounded, 'winter-warmer', one to slow-sip.
O- It's different but it's not doing much for me which is a shame. It's just far too sweet for me, perhaps in the top 1-2% of the sweetness levels I have encountered in beers.

Pours a deep drak-brown color with a medium top of beige head that disolves rather quick. Aroma is dark dried fruits like figues, raisins and dates and toffee, dark bread with hints off chocolate, spices and cherries. Flavour is sweet and fruity with toasted malts and bread in the back also with a hint off chocolate.I also sense some sour notes as well. Light bitter finish with a nice lenght in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, medium body and with a light carbonation that make this goes down really easy. The balance on this beer is very good. A really good tasting kerstbier. This i would love have again.

From cervezasespeciales. In Grimbergen glass. Playing A Golden Wake. Sweet, some liquorice and with enough bitterness to compensate. Flat carbonation makes it dangerously drinkable

Purchased a 32oz growler at Karoc's Marathon Sidney OH. I enjoyed this and the alcohol can really sneak up on you because you really cannot taste or feel it so I'm glad I got the size I did. Definitely worth a try!
