Pours a dark amber with fluffy head and tons of lacing.

Smell is roasted and malty with some nutty hints. Notes of caramel, citrus, wood and leather.

Taste is malty, roasted and a bit sweet. Notes of hazelnuts, citrus, leather, caramel and a hint of tobacco. Moderate bitterness, very clean and crisp.

Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and well carbonated.

Overall, an excellent lager, tailormade for Christmas food.

A: Moderately dark reddish amber (like a redder, lighter version of coke). 2 finger head, microcarbonation on top. Moderate rising carbonation, significant lacing.
S: Fruity yeast, sweet, moderately sinus clearing, malt keeps it from being too soda like.
T: Slight bitterness, sweetness is very subtle, roasted malt which gives it almost a porter quality, coffee syrup, fairly light, caramel.
M: Almost no carbonation, very watery. but soft.
O: Pretty good, interesting flavor, I wouldn't run to it but it's nice.

A - Clear dark brown color a small off-white head that leaves no visible lacing.

S - Burned sugar, some spices and a faint trace of hops.

T - Burned malt and sugar dominates the flavor, some spices and hints of raisins, nice finish with the hop bitterness.

M - A little bit thick and a bit to muchcarbonation.

D - It's a nice christmas beer and works really well with the christmas food.

This beer has a copper toned brown color with a beige foam that leaves good lacing in the glass.

The smell is built from sweet dried fruits, a dash of toffee and some citric fruits, mostly grapefruit. A grassy freshness is noted.

Taste is mostly a malty bread flavor with rather little sweetness, and hoppy aromas in the bitter orange area.

The carbonation was rather weak, with small tingly bubbles.

In all a good beer, complementing a smorgasbord rather well.

A: The pour is hazy copper with amber tones. The rich head is rather large with off-white colour. The lacings is like spiderwebs.

S: The smell is mostly sweet light roasted malt with some spicyness. There's also dark dried fruits as well as some modest bitter hops.

T: Malt, light roasted with some sweetness. Bitter hops and dark dried fruits.

M: The aftertaste is a bit shorter than I hoped for, but it hold both bitterness and sweetness. Both the body and carbonation is medium.

D: A bit different than other Märzens I had earlier - more spices in this one. Great with the swedish christmas dishes (really sturdy food, fat and salty).

Appearance: Nils Oscar Kalasjulöl pours a amber-with-hints-of-copper colour along with a cream (white/yellow)crown which consists of large bubbles and diminishes rather quickly.

Smell: A great load of acidity, some toffee and hops can be hinted.

Taste: A very strong flavour of burnt malt, a tad of seville orange and a mild sweetness to the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and rich in carbonation, however, not in a unplesant manner.

Drinkability: It's only Yule once a year, and this beer suits just fine for that occasion and that occasion alone, it's a really nice brew but just a bit too overbalanced in the maltiness.

The colour is dark red with a tint of copper; the fast dissolving foam is pale beige.

The smell is sweet, malty, a little burned and bitter; some sour notes, crisp bread and a just perceptible touch of tar.

The carbonation is soft and gentle (but not at all stale). The mouthfeel is fresh and balanced.

The taste is somewhat sweet and compound. It is very malty with a burned flavour and a touch of crisp rye bread. It is quite light in taste, but there is a nice balance and a robust body. The rather short aftertaste is also malty and balanced with a good body, a soft bitterness and a sourish touch.

I found this being a fine, sweeter Märtzbier (and not at all a “Belgian Dark Ale”).

Pours a clear brown beer with light carbonation and a medium thick cream-coloured foam.

Smell is burnt sugar, malt and some spicy traces. There also os a sweetness in the flavour that has fruit traces like raisins or plums.

The taste is "big" with quite strong hop traces. There is a maltiness and a sweet and bitter taste. Some roasted traces and hints of dried fruit (plums raisins) here as in the smell.

This is a great christmas brew for that swedish christmas food ;) But also if you like a beer with some fruity and "string" character. Nils Oscar keeps that high standard throughout their brews and this one isn't an exception.
