This DIPA is lacking in nuance. It's a "hammer of bitterness." Bitterness is not a bad thing, and something I often crave, but not when the only note is bitterness.

The colour is gold (10 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is white and airy; it sinks slowly leaving no lacing.
The smell is semi-sweet with some caramel. Citric peels, pine needles, citric marmalade. Hints of perfume. The smell of an old school DIPA…
The taste is bitter with pine needles, orange marmalade and caramel/toffee. Medium to strong bitterness, clean sweetness. Medium body. The aftertaste got some warming clean alcohol, lemon juice, orange peels and sweet fruit candy. Hints of mint and prunes in the caramel finish.
The carbonation is strong; the small fresh bubbles are short-lived. The liquid is smooth and a little dry.
A classic east coast DIPA. Not the best I ever had, not the worst.
