The beer is a clear copper toned amber, a firm off-white head leaving good lacing.

The smell is very citric, lime and grape-fruit. Pine and fresh grass. Some bread notes as well.

The taste has initial caramel and toffee, brown crackers, bitter orange marmalade, grapefruit juice. Grapefruit and lemon peel.

Medium carbonation, soft and slightly oily fluid, a good body and a long dry feeling - initially almost coarse.

This was the 2011 vintage on bottle, still a really welldone AIPA, with a good balance and much bitterness.

Pours a clear amber with soft, fine head.

Smell is fruity with notes of pine, grapefruit, lemon and just a hint of butter,

Taste is fruity and a bit yeasty with notes of grapefruit, orange, pine and some floral hints. Soft bitterness, with a bit of sweetness as well.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a good DIPA, but a bit safe and boring.

Puffy white froth that sheets and rings over pale amber body.
Nose faint at first, opening into perfumed orange skin and gooseberry.
Sweet danish with dank, mango, honeydew, pink grapefruit and orange hops.
Spiced white grape finish and aspiring and spearmint linger.
Chewy, medium, slight burn.

Big, twisty hops with some juiciness. Bitterness is a bit rough with a tannic note, so not the smoothest IPA. But best so far from Nils Oscar.

smell: citrus smell

taste: too bitter,sour aftertaste

Got this one from Pmgep in a recent IP trade at Borefts. Thanks for the loot man!

From a bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, loose, fizzy, off-white head with half decent retention. Really bubbly and fizzy head for sure. Perfectly clear burnt orange with medium levels of carbonation. Head fades to a thin foam cap. A ring remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass. Good body, but terrible head.

SMELL: Butterscotch and toffee with some grassy notes and floral hops. An aroma of bubblegum as well. Mild nose, but alright.

TASTE: Butterscotch and toffee up front, and then some grainy, piney hops at the swallow. Aftertaste is bold and lingering with piney and floral hops, lots of hop bitterness, and some light toffee and some candy sweetness. English in style and quite bitter after the swallow. Enjoyable, but nothing special.

PALATE: Medium body and higher levels of carbonation. Lighter on the palate, but creamy enough, goes down smooth and finishes a touch dry on the palate. Creamy and smooth, but a touch light.

OVERALL: This was alright. It is definitely more English in style, what with the butterscotch-style sweetness that permeates this brew. Despite the awful head, I quite enjoyed this and would definitely drink it again if I were in the mood for the style. Cheers for the brews Pmgep. Recommended.

Pours amber, deep burnt orange. Tight bubbles off white head somewhat clear. Woody and floral in the nose light citrus fruitiness. Taste is pretty subtle, nice orange and tagerine notes withj a moderate bitter finish. Touches of wood, pine, lemon. Not a sharp bitter finish, but a earthy, herbal lasting bitterness.
Not my favorite IPA but a cool beer. Definitely different, but not sure if the number of hops is justified, a touch jumbled up, no outstanding singular flavors

330ml bottle served in a half pint glass.

A: Pours an clear orange colour with a small white head leaving some small amount of lacing.

S: Fruity hops and grapefruit.

T: Hoppy and spicy throughout with a fruity, citrus flavour and taste of grapefruit, pineapple, marmalade and bitter lime. There is a bitter taste to the back of the pallet somewhat like as if it were quinine flavoured.

MF: Very dry and spicy with the harsh feel of a tonic water.

O: Quite a bitter taste that lingers a bit too long for my liking. Like biting into a lemon as a kid.

Appearance A clean and clear copper color (SRM 10) invades my tumbler, building a 1/2 finger tall head. The liquid looks almost flat/still to me.

Smell A mix of strong citrus, pine, raisins and spices and a dash of grandpa's three year old cologne.

Taste Bitter and biting hops right from the jump off. Lots of prominent ketone bodies up in this too, very solvent. Plenty of citrus and dark exotics fruits like prunes and apricots.

Mouthfeel Sleek and lean body, barely touching the walls of my mouth. I get the feeling that if I opened my mouth the beer would escape and vaporize. Not too much of a carbonation, which disappears quickly.

Overall Sister, Marcus and family are all gathered in the kitchen. Sis cooks us a delicious veggie Noodles with Tofu-dish.

This is unfortunately not a well balanced beer, not even close. I've been a Nils Oscar supporter since the Lundgrens Lager-days (Hey! I remember being unselfish enough to give my dad my only bottle of Sorachi Blond for his birthday last year.), so this beer surprises me to say the least.

Although bountiful beautiful flavors, the Hop Yard just leaves me with a too thin and alcohol ridden memory.

Its well carbonated perfectly clear amber orange body sports just over a finger's worth of of creamy egg shell head. Looks just like an IPA should.

The hops come in plentiful and concentrated doses, with no one scent. An onion like aroma is the most pungent but doesn't disguise the lemony soap and fresh pine notes that sit directly behind it. A kiss of bread is the only trace of malt in this one. No sign of the higher ABV yet.

Bitter from beginning to end but not in the least overpowering. The hops are raw and earthy, giving a lasting impression. A good balance is struck between the lemony and onion like character, which is quite enjoyable. The finish is slightly sticky and serves as the platform where the pine kicks in. The more sips I take, the more I notice a quick flash of mandarin oranges midway through. Its sweetness doesn't disrupt the hop bitterness but it's a welcomed feature.

Medium bodied with a lively feel and subtle creaminess. Great balance and an all around good quaffer. I still get no sign of the 7.3% ABV and that's fine with me.

This is my first beer in Sweden and I thought why not make it a craft. This is a well rounded and flavourful IPA with no real flaw. It's far from best in class but well above average and well worth a purchase.

A: This beer is deep golden and the tan head is medium large and creamy. Nice lacings.

S: Lots of American hops; Cascade and Amarillo are noticable. Pineapple, lemon sezt, grapefruits. Semi-sweet caramell malt.

T: Carmell malt, with some sweetness. Rich fruityness from the hops; pineapple, apricot, grapefruit. Bitterness as well. Pepper.

M: Aftertaste is medium long and holds a nice bitterness. Some alcohol is present. Body is medium and carbonation is smooth.

O: A nice AIPA. The bitterness is not overpowered by the floral fruityness - nice!

The Nils Oscar Hop Yard is not yet a classic and for testing it for the 4th time im still not that impressed that im putting my name behind an A rating on this one.
The best part about the beer is the smell. Fresh, clean and easy to like makes your nose go nuts.
The taste is more to the metallic-feel witch im myself dont really like in a IPA. Citrus is kicking in abit to late in the aftertaste but its atleast there. The mouthfeel aint the best from this brewery but a couple more batches and i think they will nail this one!

A: Amber, nice foamy white head with small bubbles.

S: Fruity and citrus smell from the large amount of hops.

T: Caramel malts made this IPA have some easy smoke tones, but the main experience is the hops (one too many kinds thou). However dry hopped with amarillo sure makes it a American style, hopped IPA. A nice and good bitter taste, with a dryer aftertaste.

Overall: You will not get punched in the face, but this is actually a nice IPA, and at a good price. It delivers where it counts and will help you with your thirst for hops, however one would think that it could have been more distinguished with the hops, if they had been a bit more selective with it.

But a good IPA and a good purchase.

The smell is bitter with hints of smoke, figs, herbs, and a touch of acetone. Some fruity sweetness in the background.

The colour is amber (16 EBC), the liquid clear. The finger thick head is beige and compact. It sinks slowly, leaving some lacing.

The taste is sour-bitter with a quickly passing smoked note. Some dry-sour fruity flavours (lime, physalis) and warming alcohol. Some bread-like sweetness and peppery-spicy notes. The aftertaste is quite dense with alcohol, mixed exotic fruits and a sharp bitterness. The finish is dry.

The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles short-lasting. The liquid is a bit sticky.

An OK IPA if it hadn't been for that odd smoked flavour.

A: clear amber with a fluffy head; leaves big-hole lacing

S: the toasty aroma has some cocoa notes

T: nothing spectacular about the hops to note, but it's balanced by this rich sweetness that's almost chocolate-y, so it's not a saccharine type of sweet

M: there's no bite, but it redeems itself with how full-bodied and smooth it is, coating the mouth nicely, followed up with a lingering hop finish

Pours a slightly clouded amber orange. Crème head falls fast. Floral perfumed and fragrant nose. Flavor brings a bit of the same. Though an earthy and soil like edge seems to just slightly peek out on the very distant side. I'd say the dominating features are the floral and accompanying hoppy tones. We've got some firm bitter that appears as it warms and a nice earthy hop tone that stays constant. This is a bit rough, but it's certainly enough of a well done production to merit drinking.
