Picked up a bomber for 10 bucks tax included a very good price for a BB aged Coffee porter. Into a pint glass.
A - Good start a nice bit of head for 10% fades to a mocha lace ring very thick porter good deep blackness.
S - Kind of milk stout like smooth coffee mended with with some milk chocolate very little bourbon in the smell.
T - Bourbon is quite possibly the most blended taste I ever had lately. Smooth chocolate and coffee taste with little dry aspect or roast one would expect. Tasty.
M - Very smooth for the 10% no burn or syrup feeling.

Overall I could see the praise and the price is very fair for the bomber. If they still have one left I may pick up a few more!

I'm glad the bourbon is light on this one, because if I want bourbon, I'll drink bourbon. More coffee present that strikes a nice balance with the base beer. A hint of vanilla is nice and it burns just a lil. Sweet, but not cloying. For my $8, a nice value to sip.

It is an opaque black with a small tan head. While there was no lacing, the head lingered quite a while.

The aroma is coffee and chocolate, more coffee than chocolate. There was also a hint of vanilla.

Espresso coffee taste. Cocoa. The vanilla was still faintly present, and there was more bourbon in the taste.

Medium-bodied, maybe a little thin in mouthfeel.

Nevertheless, a thoroughly enjoyable beer.

Taste is deep roasted black coffee, light vanilla and oaking that comes out on the finish. The oak shows itself more as the beer warms. Great beer if you are a coffee fan. Otherwise, this is still solid. May get this again, but I prefer other Heavy Seas beers.

22 oz bottle poured into 6 oz water glass

A: pure darkness but if you tilt the glass you get light around the edges nice chocolate head that dissipated quickly

S: chocolate, whiskey, roasted coffee, caramel

T: lots of bourbon sweet coffee tasting

M: coats the tongue but it's pretty thin very porter like in it's thin feel

O: it's a pretty nice beer it smells better than it tastes and it tastes better than it feels I keep getting this metallic sour taste every whip stitch I can't put my finger on but it's not good.

Beautiful black beer, topped by a large dark brown head with excellent retention, especially for the style.

Strong aroma hits all the right notes: boozy sweet bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee.

Flavor follows, albeit lacking in balance and subtlety. (Then again, Blackbeard would not have approved of subtlety.) Sweet punch up front against coffee notes; big bourbon finish, wallowing in coconut and vanilla; dry dark cacao finish.

Significantly lacking throughout of a strong stout/porter base, save for some chocolate notes at the beginning and end, and a bit of vinous notes creeping through.

Fairly thick feel for the style; slight bit of bite and sting; touch of foaming; exceptionally light touch for 10% ABV; almost dry finish.

This is a very promising brew that can't quite deliver to the palate what the nose implies. Regardless, it's well worth picking up at the price point.

Really good coffee flavors while the bourbon notes blend more into the background of the palate. Definitely not the bourbon-bomb that many beers of this style tend to be, but is rather well balanced.

Pours an effervescent ebony with a pinky of caramel colored head with an awesome creamy look.

S: Coffee, not much else

T: Cofffee, a touch of Bourbon, caramel & dryness up front. Dryness, charred grain, & coffee as this warms & a little bit of figs & raisin. Finishes oaky dry with dark fruit & coffee, vague Bourbon notes

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, thins a bit as it warms

Drinks alright, was hoping for way better with this one. The barrel aspect really didn't really shine
