A barrel-aged Imperial Coffee Porter.
Blackbeard's Breakfast is a robust porter with a new world twist. Aged in bourbon barrels and brewed with local Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company's Dark Sumatra coffee, this porter is flavorful and complex. Featuring unique English malts, this brew will have strong notes of caramel and a slight nut character. Paired with bourbon notes and the sumptuous Sumatran Coffee, Blackbeard's Breakfast will please coffee and beer connoisseurs alike. The limited draft only version is finished with house made caramel and salt to create an even more complex and tantalizing flavor.

Just as dark as a good porter should be. The tan head is small and disappears rather quickly without leaving much lacing. Coffee and caramel pop up immediately in the aroma. Rather than strong bourbon notes, the smokiness takes on a cigar-like attribute. A fleeting hint of dark fruit sneaks in on the taste buds before the more familiar coffee flavor hogs the spotlight. Lingering sweetness remains a constant. Smooth, softly carbonated, full bodied mouthfeel. Overall, a really good porter that packs a punch.

Black in color with no light penetration. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim and there’s otherwise a thin wisp over a third of the top. The aroma is of bourbon. I suspect the coffee might have dissipated as I bought this about 6 months prior to cracking it. I’m getting some dark coffee and smoke aroma as it warms. I’m tasting bourbon, coffee, and dark malt. The mouth is dry and a bit warm with alcohol.

Looks are no different than a stout. Short brown head that quickly vanished. Molasses film lace on the glass.
Smell and Taste: Strong coffee notes with some bourbon on the nose. For a 10% ABV it doesn't seem very boozy. Quite sweet. Good for a desert beverage.
Feel: Oily, syrupy.
Overall: It's a good beer but I can't rate it a Great beer.

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of bourbon, oak, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. It tasted boozy with bourbon, vanilla, oak and roasted coffee.

3/24/22 From six pack i bought for DW's 50th!
Happy birthday to me! Everything about this beer is complex, it's just so good. Incredibly boozy bourbon aromas waft up the nose. The feel is velvet smooth. The taste is bourbon, coconut, coffee, and bitter finish. One is enough, but there's more in the fridge!

My go to higher abv Porter, if I can find it in season that is. The love child between a good BA stout and a roasty Porter can’t go wrong.

Continuing to clean out the refrigerator... 12 oz bottle poured into a big tulip.
Look - Quite dark with a khaki head. It's small and fades. Bubbly. Not much lacing, but some bubbles linger on the glass.
Smell - The coffee is there, followed by that woody, malty mix of a barrel. There is a sweetness from the bourbon and malt.
Taste - Plenty of coffee and dark chocolate. There is a bitterness from that pair, but the bourbon is subtle, especially as the beer warms. The coffee can fall away, too, if you let it. It certainly has a porter nuttiness underneath that. Plenty of roasty malts. This isn't the draft version, so no caramel or salt. It's pretty straightforward, I think, but not unpleasant.
Feel - It's thinner than expected but still has a tendency to linger as creamy and roasted. Medium body, smooth. Decent carbonation.
I think I was a bit disappointed the first time I had this because I expected it to be crazier than it was. It's still plenty enjoyable. The alcohol will hit you, but it never crosses into big stout territory. It's balanced and easy to nurse. If you check your expectations properly, it's worth tasting.

Have had multiple times but always on Nitro.
Nitro enhances look and greatly enhances cask like smoothness.
Otherwise a nicely traditionally flavored Porter. Barrel and coffee are perhaps too well integrated in with malts and hops. Nothing really stands out.

Pours deep copper with a 1 inch tan head, which lasts. Heavy lacing to the end.
Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast malt.
Taste is coffee, cocoa, bourbon, oak, molasses, roast malt.
Full bodied, thick and rich, light carbonation. Dry finish.
Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of...Beer? I thought pirates drank rum. Outstanding porter!
