The smell has roasted coffee tones up front with some fig and dates in the background, chocolate is there but very subdued, one really has to pull for both of these even after as the beer warms. It pours a jet black and leaves the same color body. A one centimeter mocha colored head appears and dies immediately. The body is too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. The taste takes all of those smells to combine a nice sweet roastiness. The palatel is about a medium with some slight harshness on the tongue, nothing bad, but noticeable. It is slightly dry. I would say it is slightly drinkable, probably have one or two in a session. Overall, this is not a bad RIS, but I’ve had better.

Look - Pours black with a short light brown head, good retention, no lacing.
Aroma - Cocoa powder, hint of smoke, lots of caramel.
Taste - Milk chocolate, equal parts roasted and toasted malt, burnt caramel and weak coffee on the finish. Bitterness is low.
Feel - Medium-Full bodied, slightly oily, smooth carbonation.

Overall - Very good, easy to drink and full flavored.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tumbler style pint glass.

It pours thick and very dark brown, looking black and opaque in the glass. The one and a half fingers of medium brown foamy head eventually diminished to just a foamy ring with slick lacing. The moderate nose is dominated with coffee aromas and backed up with roasted malt and alcohol. it has nice bitterness all the way through to the finish which again has noticeable alcohol presence. Coffee, bitter chocolate and roasted malt with a touch of sweetness make up the rest of the flavor. Body is medium heavy with a nice creamy feel and the carbonation is in the vicinity of light to medium.

Not a top tier stout but a fairly solid drinkable one. I have had three to four in an evening in the past.

Poured very cold into 16oz Pilsner glass, consumed over a 40 minute period. Poured thick, flat and black..hardly any movement, no lacing.

Smells like a chocolate coffee, with a little fruitiness. Sweet on the front is leveled off with the very slight bitterness on the back side. Thick, but not too.. yet very smooth while cold, and smoother as it warmed. There was no bite from the alcohol, and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this (milder) Imperial.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Smells of coffee and chocolate, very inviting. Tastes of coffee and some grapes and just a hint of chocolate. Beer is medium to full bodied and easy drinking, decent carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle (BB FEB/07/17),into a Funky Buddha snifter.

Frothy, dark khaki / brown, colored head, that stands just under 1 finger tall.Leaves a thin ring around the side of the glass, with a large swirl in the center.Jet black in color, with no light showing through the glass. No visible carbonation.

On the nose I get light roasted coffee, and rich dark chocolate, with some toasted malt notes. Some hints of cocoa, and caramel also.

The palate follows the nose with coffee, and chocolate up front.Getting toasted malts, and some caramel on the back end.It has a bit of a smokey aftertaste, but not strong, and no alcohol.

The body is medium heavy, with a smooth finish.

I've had this one before writing this review, and it was a bit better than I remember it.Nothing overly special that stands out about it though.Just a solid Imperial Stout.

L - Deep brown - almost black with a small tan head that sticks around and leaves some lacing behind
S - sweet malt with notes of coffee, molasses, and chocolate - not too strong though
T - Sweet malt - a mild roast to them with rich molasses and notes of coffee and bittersweet chocolate rounding out the back end. A very mild hop presence - virtually undetectable.
F - full bodied with mild carbonation - very smooth. Feels rich and decadent
O - A pretty good stout with a great mouth feel and taste with the usual roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate notes. That said, this one just doesn't stand out to me.

A: dark brew with cola head
S: smell promised the dark chocolate flavor
T: as promised chocolate and molasses with bitter finish that allows the taste to linger.
O: good stout for a late evening drink. One is probably plenty per evening.
