A frothy, ethereal head of white floats atop a hazy, medium-amber sunset. The smell is almost overwhelmingly luscious: caramel and guava, mango and coconut milk, and juicy to the max. It's fortunate that the sweetness is balanced somewhat by citrus and resinous hop aromas. But overall, there is CANDIED PINEAPPLE. What's astonishing after taking in the ultra sweet smell, is the amount of bitterness on the tongue. Sharp hop flavors cut through the tropical fruit, throwing forth grapefruit rinds and pine. The sweet complexity on the nose still manages to make its way to the taste buds however, and the result is somewhat unbalanced, but still interesting, enjoyable, and quite novel. The sweet/bitter/dry/juicy tug of war that comes with ruby red grapefruit is present in spades; the way Heavy Seas has managed to artfully capture this characteristic certainly deserves applause. A medium mouthfeel still achieves crispness via a lively level of carbonation. A beer which, like the best of summer boyfriends, makes an awkward first impression, but quickly grows on you...for now.

I registered just to do my part in saving someone from wasting their money on this beer. This is just simply an awful beer.

It tastes like regurgitated cough medicine. The only good thing about it is if you drink enough of it you eventually stop caring that it tastes so bad.

Save your money and try something else.

Never had this on tap, but in a bottle it is very good. I'm not a big fan of citrus beers, but this one I do like. Good IPA with just a hint of orange or citrus. Adds a nice side flavor the the ipa side.Has a light citrus aroma, color/clarity is not important to me. If hits with the ipa and finishes with the orange citrus. Nice aftertaste on the palate. I'll be buying this more often.

Nice pretty orange almost see through look to this beer with a thin white head from tap. To me it smells like a sweet tart or similar fruity candy and not like an IPA. Similar candy flavor but not as much sweetness as expected from the nose and its got some hop bitterness to balance. This tastes better than it smells. Too me this has a bit less than medium carbonation and a thin feel.

L- clear, golden, 1 finger white head

A- Very strong orange with a little passion fruit. The orange reminds me of orange bubble gum.

T- follows nose, a lot of orange but with a nice grapefruit bitterness throughout. Was worried it would be artificial-tasting based on the aroma, but it isn't.

F- medium-light, semi-dry

O- well done fruit IPA. The orange is pretty strong but it works well with the hops used.

Pretty easy drinking beer for 7.25%. Flavor and nose is completely citrus and some fresh piney hops. Flavors seemed artificial at times, but overall a nice beer.

Def doesn't taste the way it smells, but one of the best citrus smelling beers I've had.

L: Dark Gold, almost amber
S: Smells like a basket of blood orange, grapefruit and zestiness.
T: Grapefruit is def there but its def per bottle/pack.
F: Slight bitter on the end but its citrus one for one
Overall: I am one for Blood Orange ales, this didn't disappoint. I had this a long time ago but I couldn't remember the name, I recently found it again and more than glad to buy it.

I had this on tap at Grotto's Pizza in Gambrills, MD. Thought is was getting a regular IPA so I was surprised at the fruity smell and taste. Very peach or mango smell. I liked the taste for summer. The high alcohol is very hidden. This goes down easy. Picked up a bottle at my local Wegmans the next day and enjoyed it on a warm July evening. Bottle poured very similar to the draft with very clear peach scent and fruity taste. Still hoppy undertones gives it a nice feel.

Folks seem to be hating on this beer, but I liked it. Yes, it's a citrus IPA - and I'm not a fan of the style. But I thought this was flavorful and refreshing. Maybe a bit more powerful (flavor-wise) than other beers of this type, but I did not find it overbearing. It's one of the few citrus IPAs I enjoy. Try it.

This is seriously fruity and smells like orange soda from the eighties. The taste is slightly better but could really use some additional stiffness in the texture. Too watery and weak to be a solid IPA. Bitterness is there but kind of overshadowed by fruit and graininess. Refreshing and certainly okay in summer heat but not even a good citrus IPA, let alone able to stand up against the rest of the style.

I joined this thing to tell everyone possible to stay away from this beer. I like Heavy Seas. I despise this beer and almost everything about it.
