Prosit! It's time to celebrate the tradition of lager. Brewed in the Oktoberfest style, TreasureFest is an American spin on the classic German style. Brewed with imported German malt and lavishly hopped with a blend of German hops in the kettle and dry hopped with American hops, this is a fresh look at the old Oktober stand-by. Put on your silly pants and hats and raise your stein to TreasureFest!

Poured from 12oz bottle into Seidel mug. Best by December 27th, 2018.

L: Dark honey color, finger of beige head has decent retention.

S: Hoppy pale ale aroma with a touch of grains.

T: Follows nose.

F: Medium body, crisp, lingering hops.

O: A disappointing twist on an Oktoberfest.

L - Rust with very minimal clarity - somewhat murky. Along with a medium to large tan head that sticks around and provides a good amount of lacing.
S - Malts, bready, and hops along with some grains and caramel notes - a little mineraly
T - Typical oktoberfest notes along with a kick of hops. Starts off with bready malt up front followed by some caramel and toasty notes throughout with a healthy dose of bitter hops on the backend.
F - medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp but smooth.
O - This is an interesting take on an oktoberfest. The hop presence really kicks things up a notch - whether it's in a good or bad way, I'm not entirely sure. I prefer your more traditional ocktoberfest tasting notes, but this one is at least trying something different, and the end result isn't half bad - though if I want an oktoberfest, I'll most likely go to another beer.

12 oz poured into a shaker pint on tap.

A: Murky copper amber body with a small fluffy slightly off white head.

S: Lots of resiny hops and a little doughy breads but mostly piney hops.

T: Lots of that resiny hops a little floral and bitter malt backbone.

M: Medium bodied with a light cling on the finish.

O: This is truly the worst Oktoberfest I have ever had hands down. It tastes absolutely nothing like an Oktoberfest and it doesn't even taste like a good IPA. It tastes like an IPA that is way past its prime. This beer should absolutely not be labeled an Oktoberfest because it tastes nothing like it. Hell it doesn't even have any clarity to the body like an Oktoberfest.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass. Pours light brown red with a slightly off white head. Smells of caramelized grain, but weakly. Tastes of dark roasted grain, slight caramel, and slight fruitiness. Beer is light bodied, very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, an average beer.

Clipper City Brewing Co. "Heavy Seas Treasure Fest"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, ""BEST BY JAN1818" and sampled on NOV0617
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: Typical Festbier appearance with a somewhat hazy deep amber-almost brown body with a reddish sheen beneath a finger-thick head of creamy off-white. Head retention and lacing are just slightly better than average.
Smell: Clean and bright. Malty, caramelish and very lightly toasty with some apple and berry-like fruitiness.
Taste: As the aroma suggests, it's malty with a medium-caramel tone and light toastiness that comes through more fully in the finish than the front of the mouth. There's a touch of nuttiness as well. Some fruitiness remains but it's not as strong as it is in the aroma. Finally, some grassy, leafy, and lightly spicy hops round it out and help to dry it in the finish along with a median bitterness.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: Hard to argue with as a basic Fest. It's well-made, very nicely balanced, and delivers everything you'd expect. I generally don't order the same beer twice in a row when I'm out at the pub but I'd certainly have a second one of these.

From the bottle, it pours a solid amber with a modest head that soon diminishes to a ring. Some lacing as you enjoy it. Some malt in the nose. The mouth gets the same.

Poured into a narrow pint glass: color is amber, transparent, head is off white to light tan in color, presents about 1/2 inch thick and laces the glass sides well.

Smell is lightly sweet, hints of caramel and lighter munich like notes.

Taste is similarly sweet, some caramel, some munich, earthy hops with noticeable bitterness.

Mouthfeel is sweet, then bitter, a touch dry.

Overall a little sweet and also a little bitter, just a bit out of balance compared to others of the style.
