A: Pours a bright clear amber color with a nice two finger white foam head that has really good retention. There is not much in the way of lacing.

S: Ample amounts of spepper pice, belgian yeast, citrus hops and some caramel malt sweetness. Very inviting on the nose.

T: Starts off with a sweet malt flavor, mostly caramel and biscuits. In the middle, there is a nice amount of belgian yeast and pepper spice that comes through. The finish is nicely balanced with the malty sweetness giving way to more yeast and spice with just a hint of citrus hops.

M: A nice medium to full bodied beer that leaves a clean refreshing taste on the palate.

O: This is a really nice Dubbel. Very clean and crisp, refreshing on a hot day. The alcohol is held at bay too, which makes this easy to drink.

22 oz bottle I picked up at the recommendation of my neighbor

A - Nice brownish hue with musty tints of orange when held to the light. Not a huge head, but some nice pale, creamy lacing.

S - Slightly sweet, caramel, a little yeasty.

T - It sounds a bit strange, but I picked up Double Bubble gum, but it went down nice. Enjoyable.

M - Creamy malts, a bit of warming from the alcohol, fairly clean finish

O - I enjoyed this and have another bottle I will pull out at a later date.

A: Rich, nutty chestnut. lighter tones when held up against the light. cloudy. hardly any bubbles. a little bit of pale beige head.

S: Fruity, yeasty. A little spicy.

T: More yeast and fruit. honey. A little sugary malty. A little peppery.

M: Tingly, creamy, smooth.

O: Tastes good, easy to drink. Not amazing, but all around pretty good.

Poured from a 32 ounce Whole Foods growler into a St Bernardus goblet. Filled 28 June 2011 (today).

A: Generous frothy head is beautiful, but doesn't last long in this wide goblet. A pleasant, if dull, brown, it blazes orange in direct lighting.

S: Very fruity. Some nice yeast. Sweet and flat.

T/M: Yummy. If not an exceptional dubbel, a good one. Chewy and very full-bodied, it sits heavy on the tongue. Carbonation is light, letting the enormously sugary malts be the main event. Fruits are dark and overripe -- maybe soft cherries.

O: Straight 4s, it seems. That fits. Everything is good; nothing is splendid. Recommended. Probably won't drink again, but I'm glad I tried it.

Another attractive bottle from "HeavySeas"!
The color is a slightly cloudy amber brown with a tan head building, but dissipating fast into little lacing.
The smell has a lot of banana, some peach and honey.
Tasting the beer, up front there are certainly very fruity, flowery hops which give the banana, peach notes. In the middle a welcoming bitterness balances the more sweeter start nicely. In the end a nice prickly bittersweet lingers on the tongue
A great beer of it's kind, certainly will buy it again if I can find it.

App - Amber color, brilliantly clear. Pours a semi-large white head finely bubbled and with moderate retention.

Some malty sweetness and a gentle Belgian spiciness to the nose. Hints of pepper and alcohol and even some mint.

A slight biscuity note to the initial malt flavor, and the malt melds nicely with the gentle peppery spice notes from the yeast. Curious if the same yeast is used with the Dubbel Cannon beer - some similarities. Finishes fairly dry, with a lingering spicy alcohol note.

MF - Moderate body and fairly high carbonation, very much in style. Alcohol warming is present but under control, and also in style.

Overall - A fairly clean interpretation of the style, and certainly not as complex or spicy as some Belgian examples. However, a very pleasant Belgiany beer brewed to Heavy Seas normal high standards.
