June 2015: 275 ml bottle, bought in Barbados by a friend. Brewed in Trinidad & Tobago. ABV is 4.9%. Black colour, large tan head. Sweetish aroma of lactose and moderately roasted malts, hints of sweetened mild coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, notes of lactose, roasted malts and coffee, roasty and hoppy bitterness in the finish.

L – I poured this beer in a Shaker pint glass. It pours a nice looking dark brown, not quite black, with about 1.5” of a darker tan head. The head dissipates rather quickly. After a sip there’s a slight bit of lacing left.
S – You can smell hints of chocolate and malt.
T – Just like the smell, there are hints of chocolate and malt. Upon initially sipping this beer there was a pleasant, sweet taste, but then there’s a complimentary bitter aftertaste that makes this a well-balanced beer.
F – This beer is on the smooth side with less carbonation than other beers. I thought it was a bit on the heavy side.
O – I believe most people will enjoy this beer and I recommend you try it. Because of the sweet, full body taste this may make a great dessert beer.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp 4.9% ABV. The beer pours dense black with light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of tiny bubbles. The aroma is mild with sweet and roasty notes. The taste is bittersweet roasted malt with mild lactose sweetness, a hint of acidulated malt and dark chocolate roasted malt. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with just less that average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Overall, very good. A simple and well executed beer.

12oz bottle
now brewed in Florida
L: near black body, foamy khaki head
S: chocolate milk, roasted barley
T: chocolate, lactose, roasted barley, vanilla, mild earthy hops
F: medium body, super smooth, balanced yet slightly sweet finish
O: it’s been over a decade since I’ve even Seen this anywhere. I know it’s brewed by another brewer now, but still fun to come back to after all these years

12 oz bottle into a Becker glass.
L: SRM 40 pours black with a 1.5" dark khaki pock marked head that slowly recedes to sea foam with a creamy center and then down to thick skin, light carbo, medium random lacing with some 1/2 banding lines.
S: Rich caramelized malts, toffee, a hint of dark fruits, distant red wine, leather, a light metallic note.
T: Sweet dark roasted grains, dark fruits, sweet dark milk chocolate, a metallic note. A bit sweet on the outside and bitter in the center and finish as bitterness and light char linger. Slightly full flavored with a milky aftertaste.
F: Smooth, milky , medium-heavy bodied mouthfeel with a lightly broad center and a medium-long very lightly dry finish.
O: Very tasty and smooth. Moderately sweet with bitter notes that follow. Fairly rich with some deep chocolate and dark fruit tastes. Slightly complex, quite easy to drink. It is outstanding in its style.
***I first had this beer in the 1980's and am happy it is still brewed.
