Style: German Hefeweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
An authentic example of a Bavarian Hefeweizen. “Hefe” means cloudy or yeasty and “weizen” means wheat. This beer is made with mostly wheat and uses a true Hefeweizen yeast that gives it a fruity, banana aroma with just a hint of cloves. The tart finish makes this the perfect summer beer.

With a opaque straw color, the flavors feature prominent banana, along with clove, yeast bread and some lemon. It boasts a yeasty lemon aroma and sharp carbonation with a light banana bread aftertaste. In terms of Hefeweizen, this is in the same league as the Santa Fe Hefeweizen, which is better than the Honcho Hefe from Mother Earth Brewing. After having this, I highly recommend the Hefeweizen from Karl Strauss Brewing in San Diego and A Slice of Hefen from La Cumbre Brewing in Albuquerque. Those two beers are a benchmark for hefeweizens outside of Germany!

Pours a murky golden orange color smaller white head fades pretty fast not much lace.

Aroma is bready wheat notes , light banana and clove some earthy hints.

Taste is the same as the nose not quite a German Hefe but better then an American wheat beer some haziness form light sediment. But not as chewy and full as a good Hefe.

Mouthfeel is defiantly lighter then I was hoping for crisp kind of light.

Overall eh make a good lawnmower beer.

A: head is surprisingly weak (and quickly receding), I got about 1 finger, pale gold body, decently clear.
S: pretty textbook and well executed, banana, clove, but with a mild toasty note that is kind of intriguing.
T: a lot of banana, not much clove, very sweet, and surprisingly malty, touch of bitterness, even some lemon.
M: dry, but with a decent body, well carbonated.
O: This is a decently refreshing beer, crisp, light, and enjoyable, but there is too much banana here for my blood, I've had the majority of the hefeweizens that are considered to be classics (at least the readily available ones) and while this is an admirable effort, it doesn't really come close to those in any area except the mouthfeel, it's good enough, definitely not great.

Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a thin bright white head that disappears quickly. The smell is slightly fruity. Initial taste is banana and clove, then a sweet and lightly tart finish. The aftertaste is tart as well. Because of the tartness, the feel is kinda crisp and not as filling at others. Overall, this is an overall flavor balanced brew that is easy drinking.

The Hefe that I had tasted unusually sour. Might have had a bad batch or an expired bottle, but it did not taste good. It's not like i couldn't stomach drinking it, I just wasn't a fan
