Style: American Brown Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 3.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Many Mexican beer styles today are descendants of old Austrian styles, from when Austria ruled Mexico in the late 19th century. Our Dos Perros is made with German Munich malt, English Pale malt, and Chocolate malt, and hopped with Perle and Saaz hops. To lighten the body, as many Mexican brewers do, we add a small portion of flaked maize. The result is a wonderfully bready malt aroma, balanced with some maize sweetness and a noble hop finish.

Yazoo’s Dos Perros has a thin, off-white head, not much lacing, and a clear, bubbly, rust-brown appearance. The aroma is of pungent, full, brown bread crust and syrupy sweetness, with a background of corn. Taste is of sweet, brown bread crust, underlying corn, and a touch of molasses. No bitterness, here. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Dos Perros finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and easy drinking. Overall, this is very enjoyable.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear dark ruby-brown with a very thin and soapy white head. Basically nothing in the way of head retention or lacing. Not very impressed.

The aroma makes up for the poor appearance by providing some nice nutty, fruity notes. Roasted malt with some very light coffee along with a touch of dark fruit. Some corn is detectable as well. Not bad.

More fruitiness than I was expecting in the taste along with a nice shot of roasted malt and coffee. The corn is detectable but it remains restrained in the background and nicely compliments the flavor. Bitterness is on the light side with a very light and almost chalky mouthfeel.

Overall, a pretty nice, easy drinking beer. There is not a whole lot going on here but enough to keep a very light beer interesting.

A - Pour a murky deep chestnut brown with a big brown eggshell head.

S - Malt forward, chocolate, brownie dough.

T - Big malt flavors, chocolate, some faint coffee, finishes semi sweet, but balanced with some hops.

O - Really solid brown ale - I am shocked the the amount of flavor when it is only 3.5 % abv - really packs a big flavor punch for low ABV.

I poured this from a bottle into a Yazoo pint glass which was quickly lined with bubbles. The carbonation was extreme with bubbling forcing its way to the top with the effervescence of Alka Seltzer.

The aroma had a chocolate malt fragrance with some caramel underpinnings but it was airy; if that even seems possible.

The flavor was light with chocolate malts, caramel, and a light hop profile. The flavors were lifted off the tongue with a rush of bubbles and basically erased any real taste.

The feel was also deeply influenced by the high carbonation. Airy and expansive the bubbling caused a small bit of sharpness in the throat.

Great beer year round! Recently tipped 2 back with a Porterhouse Steak..Phenomenal The way the Perros paired with the porterhouse. Definitely worth a try with or without the steak. This Yazoo brew will always do....Seriously though this beer is pretty good you need to try it if your able to do so
